Focus always on the basics and never let your guard down believing they cant go out of whack.

Temperature, humidity, airflow, watering, O2 and Co2....master that and dont spend time on small things.

The number of times they go out of whack can surprise and you want to be there to fix it.

Somewhere on this forum is a long thread on the pitfalls newbies make. It's a good read.

Boiled down it lists the top reasons new growers fail; too much water (in media), too much light, too many nutrients, bugs, doing too much too fast, humidity, temp, bad advice, etc.

Just be aware that there are people who pop up in here that seem to give really bad advice. Don't jump at any rec's just because a well known member says to do something extreme. They may just be assholes trying to get you out of growing.

Too much light?

If you haven't done so already, you're definitely going to want to look into root rot, its causes and how to prevent it.

Yes, putting your light too close to your plants will kill them. What you will see is a combination of light and heat stress.

First, the leaves will claw downward, as if they are trying to face away from the light. Next, the new growth leaves will be miniaturized and twisted - almost looking mutated. Finally they will begin to turn bronze, mimicking a deficiency (it isn't).

If you have a reasonably powered light - anything over 150 watts measured at the wall - put it up as high in the tent as you can and leave it there for your first few grows. Your plants will do fine, and you won't be chasing your tail wondering whats wrong with them.

Your goal is to get to harvest, not win the gm/watt competition.

my led is at 48” right now for a 3-7 day acclimation period leaves are perky I don’t think my lights are an issue @mysunnyboy im following everything to the T right now my buddy who gave me the cut and works in a grow up here says she looks great and I’m thinking into shit to much and just let her do her thing and like @ComfortCreator said just focus on basics and not let guard down. @greg nr i appreciate the heads up and I will take things people say with a grain a salt verify things before I leap and make big adjustments thank u all who have replied and I’m going to keep updating throughout this process

yeah my roots are pearly white and are being oxygenated with two big air stones I also ordered great white last night for preventative measures heard it accelerates growth as well as keeps roots healthy and protects against root rot I also use chilled water from cooler at 68 degrees @Just Be thanks brother

I just do the 18/6. Never tried any other schedule though. Even with autoflowers, you want some dark period. The plant does things differently at night. Probably best to give it some down time.
