Flipping to flower?

Vendor/breeder for autos?
Spanish Sweet Seeds has wide range of autos. I grew 5 +Speed (https://www.rollitup.org/t/simultaneous-grow.997624/post-15211553 for example) and I have Cream Mandarin Auto XXL for my next grow.
Advanced Seeds (I thin Spanish as well). I grew Auto Strawberry Gum and I have photo version of it on the schedule after autos.
If you in USA, there are enough breeders making autos. You can try to find Doctor's Choice autos in Canada: XXL versions can be 1,5-2m high.

No quality or potency difference? That’s good to hear! First timer.

where did you get your seeds?
I definitely get better quality/potency from the photos ive done. Seems like most photo breeders put out pretty damn good genetics while only a select couple of auto breeders put out quality. Photos give you so many more options for training and you can grow them to be whatever size and shape you want. Photos are also more forgiving. You can plant photo seeds under 12/12 light schedule and they will basically grow and yield just like an auto (i know this because i tossed a seed in a pot at the start of flower last grow; Yield was on par with the autos ive grown and quality was better). The only purpose i see for autos is cold climates. If you need to harvest by mid september, autos are the way to go for sure. I also see autos as something ya motha could plant a couple of on the deck or patio and it be fun for her where photos just get to god damn big for the average "balcony plant"

In that perspective, for sure I can see an auto as a be if it in that way. Mine was due too sooner harvest and that I only have one space (2.5x5’ tent). If I had more space I would of went with photos to get a mom and run clones to save money on seeds.

But I’m indoor and didn’t think that running a shorter veg time on a photo would basically do just that. But then you will need to know the genetics of the plant. Like if the growth it’ll make within the veg time support the flower and so forth.

I’m in my first grow right now, so I’m kind of shooting in the dark with knowing the physicality's of individual strains.

Those were some nice buds! My space is small so I definitely want to utilize the space the best I can. From the looks of it, the plant was really short. What’s was the end dry weight?

How do obtain your autos and are they fems or regs.

first timer here in the first week of my grow. Running 2 auto og from humboldt.

do you have both autos and photo under same light space and sched? If so, do you see no difference from an auto that is under a higher light on schedule like 24/0 or 18/6 compared when you run a “normal” schedule for your photo that’s in the same space?

what are auto cobs? Nice! Ok then I should be good in a 2.5x5 with the HLG 600
When I started growing, I mostly grew regs but soon switched to fems. I acquire beans from attitude at times but recently get my autos from reputable usa seedbanks like rocbudinc and mephisto.

Yes, I run autos and photos in the same space under the same schedule...12/12. Been doing it year in year out for 15 years....Yes I've compared 12/12 to 24/0 and everything in between. Yes, yeilds increase with more light but costs do also and the % increase in cost is not justified by increase of yeild. I retired from a profession that required decisions based on statistics and the bottom line #s just don't justify more cost.

Autocobs...check out cobshop . I run a autocob 55w and a 75w rapidled cob. QB has kinda pushed the aside but cobs are still come beef makers and much more adjustable.

I grow in a bit smaller then 2x2ft closet, 2 plants max. Dry weight was 36 grams (1 and 1/4 oz) after about 9 weeks. Yes, I LSTed hell out of it because there is only 2 feets from top of the pot to lights at max height.
My first grow gave me around 50 grams (almost 2 oz) dry buds from +Speed after 12 weeks: https://www.rollitup.org/t/can-you-rate-my-girls.976939/post-14551487
I watched Auto discussion somewhere on this chanel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFACkeFHeEww8m0bt5Ug7ZQ and guy said that autos start to flower as soon as roots hit the bottom of the pot or get stressed a lot. Growing in a bigger pot will result in a bigger plant. I have never tried XXL versions yet.

Thank you for that information! I am tempted to just pop one photo then and try it out!

I dont know maybe i got lucky but i just tossed a seed in a pot and watered it and added some dry amendments here and there and got this.IMG_5906.JPG
Photos dont flower until they are sexually mature and that is usually around 4-5 weeks which is also when autos start flowering. Plant was also in a low light corner of the tent the whole grow.
