Ghetto fruit fly trap and its long term effect

So I was hoping some of the more chemically minded individuals could help me with an issue I might have.

I am using the apple cider vinegar and sugar ghetto fruit fly trap (i.e. a bottle with a funnel going down to my liquid mixture). This trap works pretty well minus the smell associated with an open container of vinegar. So here is the issue:

My grow room is small and self contained. I am wondering what type of gas the vinegar and sugar mixture releases as it evaporates. In turn, will this gas harm my babies at a high ppm in the air? The overwhelming smell of vinegar got me thinking of fermentation. If this stuff emits a little CO2 thats not bad, but what if it emits something caustic and harmful.....

Any help would be appreciated as I am not well versed in chemistry or what vinegar is comprised of other than fermented apple juice???????

Quick get it outta there before it blows your house up.

Get a couple of sticky fly papers hang them in there. that will do the job.:peace:

try living by aa pig farm, the flys are relentless. They just fill up the tape and laugh at you around here.

Thanks for the input guys. I took the bottle out and it was afloat with carcasses. I have some sticky paper but the flies look gone for now.....

Have a good weekend everyone!
