I will...gotta whole gallon bag of verm I haven't really used...I never cased the cakes from pf tek either...I mist pretty often...what's the benifit/difference

A colonized substrate will absorb little water. All you are doing is keeping it from drying out.

Casing will supply water to the growing mushroom. It will offer a more suitable base ( you dont ruin the substrate when you pick). It gives a better physical basis for pins, it keeps a microclimate. It harbors beneficial microbes. You can manage contamination easier.

You can better orchestrate a quick, collective fruit.

You will most likely be able to get fewer but larger flushes.

People seem to think that 4 or 5 flushes is a good thing, its not.

What ever strikes your fancy. I grew a small number of varieties long long ago...before there were the dozens of different "strains" ( actually land races if that can be applied to mushrooms) and i grow ever more disgusted when i hear the word "strand". Anyway, aside from the sclerotia forming varieties ( which are not cubes), they all grow pretty much the same when it comes to grain and casing.

Six jars is too few.

The point is failure rate the first time.
I'm prepared for 85% contamination and I will consider my endeavor a success , but I do understand why you say 12 jar min. If I was gonna make everything myself I think the contamination would be much higher

Ok, long as you understand the concept.

Just checked out apex and seems legit, but I've had mixed results with vendors so I stick to the places I know. Also pretty sure Apex is American. If you are Canadian and don't want to be subject to the scrutiny of international shipping Spores Lab is a Canadian vendor.

Yea but if your in Canada its all leagal so i dont think it matters, i saw they had and were selling actual mushroom fruits as well in Canada online

Mushroom Spores are legal in Canada, but international mail (wherever its coming from/going to) undergoes a lot more scrutiny.

AFAIK anyone selling fruits is not doing so legally, but you are right there are MANY options.

Few of em dropped spores last night while I was asleep which I was tryna avoid but oh well...I gotta leave town for a few weeks on Tuesday...I was thinking about sealing up the block in some garbage bags n throwing it in the fridge to shut her down til I get bk...otherwise she's gonna go to waste...would like to hear some opinions on this...I did it once before with some pf cakes n I just dunked em when I got back n thru em in the FC n they did ok...is this the best thing to do considering my situation...I work outta town 28days gone 28home
So that's what I did...sealed up the cake n thru it in the bottom of the fridge...for 30days...shes been bk in the tub for abt a week...and 3rd flush is starting from this sick lookin cake20201017_160955.jpg20201017_160948.jpg20201017_160941.jpg

Nope.

Temperature of a sealed substrate does not create contamination.

Think about it. If there are no competitive spores in a jar, how can 90 degrees make them appear?

BTW, 90 isn't all that hot. 84 is optimum but short trips to 90 or even higher aren't all that bad.
