Hydrofarm Hot House with Heat Mat, any good?

I use it. Its alright, nothing you necessarily need unless your in a cold climate (which I am). You do need some way to trap humidity around your clones for their first week of life. However there is a billion other ways to do it without this set up. The heat mat is useless unless your germinating seeds. The heat mat is fantastic for seeds though. I have a 100% germination rate using this mat, and a couple of other techniques.

They do germinate a littlle faster than without it. I use the dome every time without the mat and still get 100% it just takes a day or 2 to longer to finish all your starts. I like to try and get rid of stresses in my grow and one of them is culturing bacteria in your starts.

What happens when you mix high heat and humidity? I like to wait it out without the heat

So, If I just go get a tray and dome without the mat, which is way cheaper, I should be fine. What about putting a few cfl's over the tray to give a bit of warmth, it will be colder here in a week or so when the seeds get here. I have had 100% success before with 24 hours of soaking then a paper towel, but my last bunch which was barneys farm Tangerine dream, only got 2 out of 5 to start, so this time Ive got some singles of a few different things and definitely need 100% germ rate for this to work like I want it. By the way, what did you guys use to germ with? Peat pellets or what?

i was thinking of getting the same thing, humidity is a must for clones, which is what i plan on doing...SOG BABY W00t!

You can use peat pellets. I personally broke them up and mixed them 50/50 with sieved garden dirt to get mine going. But I use paper towels and just plain soillless. I prefer the paper towels because they were faster and 100% success and then transfer them into the peat or peat mix. transferring to soilless like SS#4 or hydroton works great from that stage too
