This sounds like a plan. The bitch

Sounds like a solid plan. Ive been reading about ozone generators, hydroxyl generators and hepa air filters for the last hour. Seems the hepa really is a good choice. I’ll probably do the hepa but I plan on getting a really high quality one so I’ll probably spend close to $500 or more. Should probably get Another one for the hallway near room and maybe block off duct vent or run an air filter near the furnace. Im sure spores were making their way to the plants multiple ways. Surely coming through the ducting. I cringe every time the heat kicks on
Duct cleaning should be done annually. Landlords should be required to have this done. Huge source of irritants for people who suffer respiratory system problems or illness.

I’m finding out this landlord and his work crew are the three stooges. I’m still battling to get the driveway issue solved cause it’s caused water to run right into the house. I found a gap under front door when I moved in and had to seal it. Evidence is pretty clear to me that it’s been flooded down here and carpet pad wasn’t replaced. The carpet looked nice and doesn’t smell so I assume he knew of the water damage and vacuumed it up and ran dehumidifiers. Problem is that doesn’t save the padding. He’s a half asser on all his properties I’ve found out through a few people..one of them being a worker of his. He owns 30 properties and is in over his head. I’ll give this one last try and then I’ll move if I have same issue with plants. Hell I should move anyways but that is not possible until springtime for me. I definitely don’t trust that he will fix the issue.

Any pictures of the buds you harvested
yep. Here’s some pics right before the early chop due to the smell and here’s a shot of a dried bud. This plant was the worst of them. Them buds in these pics had that strong acrid stinging smell. Found a bud from that run in a cupboard a few weeks back and it was bone dry. The smell was basically cat piss at that point

I see alot of animal hair or something hair all over those buds. If the carpet pad has mold then so does the subfloor it will have to be removed fix the issue causing it and kilz the subfloor or replace it if it's really bad. I'd move but I get that's not an option for everyone.

I don't see any mold. Also you seem to start smelling it as soon as the flowers would naturally be getting a danker smell anyways. I think you're just being paranoid.

Yes that’s hair from my cats. The area that padding has mold is bottom level that was once a garage. It’s concrete below the padding.

It’s hard to describe but I know these strains and have ran these clones for years. Last two runs they get that smell when things are supposed to danken up but it’s also when the buds have reached a density that supports mold growth/mold spore colonization. I’ll explain the smell better. What happens is all the strains start to lose their good skunky dank smell and the smell is replaced with an acrid, unnnatural somewhat lemony and ammonia smell that is not appealing when you squeeze the buds. The room suddenly stops smelling as strong one day and is altered. The smell when walking into grow room continues to lessen as flowering progresses and continues to alter from the original terps to a more musty and pissy overall smell in the air. All strains take on this smell and taste. I’m talking strains that have totally different terps suddenly smell the same within days. There’s no doubt this is not right. Perhaps you’d have to be here to see what I mean. This is not how they should smell or taste and they definitely shouldn’t be burning my nose upon smelling or smoking. After smoking, nose burns and is stuffy or runny as well and can’t taste my beverage right for an hour or so after. Mold exposure side effects. Same smell I’ve got in jars that weren’t burped enough and mold didn’t show then either but that smell and taste…once altered it’s never the same and it always stings the nose. You can smoke someone else’s and be just fine. Ten mins later smoke mine and it stings the nose and effects your tasting ability for an hour or so

You can get mold test kits for pretty cheap. Best way to find out, and deal with the landlord if you do. Have receipts showing the mycotoxin levels in the air.

They say 25% of the population are very sensitive to toxic mold. I'm one of them for sure. Black mold is like a hidden disease that will destroy your life, while other people around you will just think your crazy and seem unaffected. You literally have to rip open the shower walls and pull a moldy peice of sheet rock out and be like "see i f#$%ing told you so". They still don't seem to care, including family members.

I know for a fact almost 1/2 the homes anywhere have black mold in some location.

Anyways.. some things I found helped out (before ripping apart an entire bathroom) was to make my own home air filters for pretty cheap.

I would take $18 walmart special 20x20" box fans, and use metal tape to stick a 1''x20''x20" furnace filter to the back. Get the best filter you can that is rated for mold spores. Run 2 of them on low to circulate the building, and change the filters every 2-3 months.

Another bit of info. While humidity is low and fans are breezing through the plants making good air circulation in room, the room is 5.5 feet X 8 feet and the grow is in a 5x5 space so it takes up most of the small room. The door doesn’t get opened much so it’s the same air In there being blown around. Well, the furnace kicks on and blows air into the room so I guess that counts as fresh air brought in. Idk. Was entertaining the idea of it being too small of space with not enough air exchange and that causes the issue despite low humidity

Great idea with the homemade filter. Ya know I haven’t been feeling right for a while. Before the mold problem with plants even began on first run at this house I found myself always thinking something isn’t right here. My anxiety has been horrible and shortness of breath for no seeming reason every now and then. In the last few months I’ve gotten a racing heart for no apparent reason and I’m taking scary type of racing. Whole body was numbish and lightheaded. It take me longer to find words im wanting to say. My math skills have gone down. My sleeping is shit. Constant.light headache/pressure. Idk man. Perhaps it’s all unrelated but i really want to blame the house. Sadly I care more about my plants then myself too much and my concern has been them. I love my cats to death and I gotta think of them though. The air purifier and what ever mold bombs, bleach, Lysol, baking soda I can use I will as well. Woke up at midnight with anxiety. Been up since. I gotta get out of here when lease is up in June.im just financially strapped until close to then

Nasty things live in wet concrete...
Everything has been dry for months. There must be insane amounts of spores in the air. Idk man. I stayed up all night stressing this. Burned the bud along with cardboard and paper. I cut all the clones down and burnt them. I just don’t trust anything at this point. I don’t even want to look at a another plant right now im so livid over this whole thing. Threw all the soil and pots away. Threw bags of soil and castings away. Put my dehumidifiers out with the trash. I’m gonna have to try and address this somehow. I don’t have the money to replace everything that’ll need replaced. Doubt the landlord will do anything. I could afford to replace carpet and pad downstairs but probably mold in walls and definitely baseboards so it may not help enough and I shouldn’t have to pay for this shit. I refuse to do his job but I’ll waste my own money and atleast he won’t know I’m having to spend to try and deal with this. Who knows when he’d ever get around to it. It would put my next attempt at a crop on the back burner indefinitely. I’m outta here in June. I don’t think he’d ever come do it but I wouldn’t risk growing due to small chance he comes in here and does something about this. Due to other circumstances I’m not able to work much. This has hit me hard. I won’t smoke this shit or have others smoking it. I know my plan won’t remove mold but if I can keep it inactive and kill/ trap the vast majority of spores then maybe I’ll feel better and I’ll pull through a nice harvest. In the meantime I’m gonna baking soda and vinegar the carpet, mold bomb the place, bleach or Lysol the walls and floors that aren’t carpeted. I’ll get a better vacuum that’s sealed and has a high grade hepa filter and I’ll run good air purifiers in here. Throwing away clothes, curtains etc that I can’t treat. I’ll try another run in about a month. I’ll have an air purifier in grow room and use a grow tent with an intake that has hepa filter as well. This just has been horrible for me personally. I moved here solely to grow more plants and be in a quiet neighborhood. 6 months and I haven’t produced a harvest that’s amounted to anything and I believe it’s effecting my health. Cats seem fine so far. One more try and then I’ll just wait it out and move in the summer

As a passionate grower I’m left kinda empty over this as dramatic as it sounds. It was my purpose and what I enjoyed the most. It’s benefited me in a variety of ways and is something I pride myself in. I want people to enjoy the end result of my work. I guess one upside is I’m gonna be addressing the issue to the limited extent I can and taking my health more serious all around. As someone who’s lost a lot of loved one in the last few years and has had my own troubles with cancer that has thankfully not returned, I need to make a lot of life changes. Maybe start working out again and get out to see family more. Looking for a new purpose now that my girls are gone. I’ll miss these plants. Hope I’ll make a comeback soon. If not I’ll come back stronger than ever in a new place that I’ve inspected more. I will be doing mold spore/air quality tests at any potential rental. I made the horrible mistake of paying an entire years lease up front against all advise and it’s a big lesson learned. 15,000$ with deposit and pet deposit included. Spent another 3,000$ on new grow equipment. All for nothing as of now. My money has been steadily dwindling. Hard times

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I’d call a inspector to come look the place over and the other 30+ properties and then he would have to fix them or they would be closed. Kick him in the junk hard.
