What else makes me think I could be right is the leaves on a small clone I kept just for the fuck of it don’t smell like they should. Kinda sharp and stingy on the nose. Similar to buds but weaker. The stem rub doesn’t have that smell it should. My nose was stinging when I smelled it so I didn’t register much. It wasn’t until I broke open the main stem that I smelled anything that smelled like it should. My theory is smells attach themselves to moist items better than dry and the buds are dense and much more moist than the leaves. This laundry smell gets trapped in the buds and just picks up over time until it mixes and almost overrides the terpenes. It’s not so obvious of a smell until you think about it. There is no mold in these buds I kept. They look great. Well getting darker from the water cure. The humidity was so low in flower. Lower than I’ve ever grown in and I’ve grown In other places that had mold in basements and stuff like that. It was never an issue. Guys I think it may be the detergent or dryer sheets. The smells are pretty deceptive and sometimes smell like mold coming on with the lemony spicy ammonia deal but maybe I was describing it wrong. Idk. Smelling all these buds again and it’s only the ones with more natural lemony smell that have taken on the unnaturally lemony nose burny smell and maybe that isn’t quite ammonia. The buds that naturally had more of earthy Terp are unnaturally musket with a sting On the nose and a very sharp almost cleaner smell. So unnatural. The plants that I would describe as having a more earthy berry type smell have the smell it should have but altered. Deep inside it is more of an almost detergent smell. When I break a bud open There’s such a sharp sting on the nose that it makes it hard to put your finger on what the smell is. It makes it hard to make out scents if that makes sense but it’s like a very sharp cleaner or perfume smell that’s so sharp it makes it hard to smell it but for a second

Another bit of info. While humidity is low and fans are breezing through the plants making good air circulation in room, the room is 5.5 feet X 8 feet and the grow is in a 5x5 space so it takes up most of the small room. The door doesn’t get opened much so it’s the same air In there being blown around. Well, the furnace kicks on and blows air into the room so I guess that counts as fresh air brought in. Idk. Was entertaining the idea of it being too small of space with not enough air exchange and that causes the issue despite low humidity

I wish. It burns when i
i wish but it Burns when I smell them. All different strains but their terps all eventually fade behind a kinda spicy lemony ammonia type smell. It’s just my weed and not other peoples weed that is like this
It sounds like your area is damp and cold this can cause a strange mould like taste to the bud without anything being visable. Have you tried keeping your temperatures in your grow space in the uper range for night and day lowering your humidity to about 30-40%. Are your plants in a enclosed area like a tent ?

The temps were pretty good. High 70 to mid 80s with light on and about 70 with lights off and the humidity didn’t go over 35%. ISometimes it was under 30% this time. Fans on them 24/7. It’s a mystery to me cause I went out of my way to dial in the temp and humidity this round after last time this happens. I think I’m on another track now through. Looking into some things

The plants were in a tent last time. This time they were not in tent but in a space that’s about 5x10. The grow takes up about a 4x4 space. Vents bring in air all the time

Forgot to mention. This is just a weird taste. Bitter and almost chemical like soapy almost. Leaves aftertaste for hours. Burns nose when smoking or when sniffing broke up buds.

I noticed something else you said wich can cause major issues with large numbers of live plants. You dont have a constant fresh air exchange..is that correct ? I think that is vital even if it air coming from your living area. Constant stale air going round and round in grow room conditions is not good. Also are you plants on the floor in your space or elevated from the floor ?

plants are on the floor. Temps are high low 70 to high 60s on the floor. The first round here they were in a tent that stayed open and i kept the door to the room cracked most of the time. Now I will say there were some nights I had the tent almost all the way closed but cranked up the exhaust to pull more air through. This time I’ve had door to room shut pretty much constantly but there is a vent that blows a lot of air in there. Whenever the heat kicks on I can smell the air being pushed under the door into the kitchen as new air enters from the vents. Kitchen gets invaded with the plant smells.Just actually tried some more bud I kept and it’s almost like the effect of smoking dryer sheet bud but even more bitter. The bottom of the bowl is downright vile Very sharp chemical soapy taste

If your getting that taste on all your bud no mater what strain then something isnt right. I would isolate the plants in a tent with good air exchange and raise them off the floor. That way you have some control over what goes in and out . See how that works. Another thing when you cut your plants do you pile them on top of each other at any time ?

It happens around the 6-7th week of flower while still growing and continually gets worse until the smell takes over. Ive dried both harvests rather quick. First time I cit everything into individual buds and laid out on car board. Even cut the tops into smaller budlets. Smell and bad taste slightly decreased. This time I hung in branches. Both times were dry in less than a week. Lot of space between branches. The issue happens before the chop and gets a little better after. Yea man it’s literally every plant and every single bud no matter the size or location that takes on the smell pretty much all at once. It’s a uniform issue. Crazy as hell, huh? With mold I’d expect it to effect bigger buds first. I checked the smells everyday by rubbing the buds. Once I noticed it in colas one day, I went to down to lower airy buds and the same smell. Same smell all over the plant. The leaves on baby clones seemed to have the same smell but to a much lesser degree. Stem rub seemed to have it too to an even lesser degeee. The only thing that smells normal is when I crack a stem open and smell the inside. I’m stating to Think it’s from my neighbors laundry room

Hey dude, hopefully you are getting better mood about your life in general last days. I read your thread two times and need to say that I feel your pain through your posts as fuck. Hold on yourself do not give up a shit! I dunno about things which hurts you in your life but if you need to say something, I am here one big ear for you. Now to your issues with plants… It sounds like it is some kind of response of the plant. I mean with mold you would observe things you have described thats for sure, but I think it would be only partialy located. If the whole grow, whole plant in one moment spliff out shit like this, than something might interrupted their flowering process. Thats my theory which might be total BS. I think you are too much focused on mold leaving you blindfolded about other basic things. If you do not mind to post some discreet pics of the house and places you concern about? Because I imagine that house like some kind of underground hole. And that laundry theory its kinda ridiculous to me. Do not get me wrong, just want to get you on other thoughts. Wish you and your cats all good and best of luck…

This is me. I was banned so I made new account. Thanks for the nice words. I really appreciate it. Yea I’ve been going through things in life both health wise and now financially that have made me bitter. This situation plain sucks with the plants. The house is a normal house and plants are above ground level. The house was remodeled 6 months prior to me moving in this past June. The humidity has stayed low. You’re right that I’ve been focused to much on mold that it’s blinded me..actually drove me a bit insane for a while there and I had to regroup my composure. I’ve smoked moldy bud and tasted it plenty in the past and this really is different. It is a cleaner, soapy chemical taste and very harsh on the throat. The plants flower beautifully and the buds continue to fatten and do their thing as the odd smell starts to take over. I came to the conclusion it had to be coming from a smell I the environment that I was missing and I found it. I’m so stupid for this one. I had plants in laundry room with dryer duct blocked with some rags. The duct was behind the plants so I never got to it and wasn’t even thinking about it. Well I finally stuck my nose to it and smelled an overwhelming chemical air freshener type of smell. I reached and pulled the rags out and they were very wet and smelled very strong like airfreshener and a more volatile chemical. Someone has been opening the duct vent from outside the house and spraying something inside. The rags are soaking it up as it’s sprayed in. The smell than slowly comes off that rag and gets into the plants. I didn’t notice it. I’m not sure how well stuffed in those rags were. Some actual spray may have free flowed into room and bypassed the rags. The odor of the plants was so strong that the odd smell was hidden until later in flower where it became apparent in the buds. The one plant closest smells similar to the rags. Neighbor up front must have smelled the bud and has been spraying in my ducting which is cause for serious concern for me now. I’m angry at this but also it’s just not smart to even confront the neighbor. Best to take it as a lesson learned. He must have been doing this for quite some time. Atleast I think I’ve discover the issue. I mean, this has to be it.

I have plenty of pics of many past grows if what you were saying is meant to be an insult. Let me see what you have documented if you’re settings aren’t private. I’ve been on this forum for many years
