If you plan to scrog with clones, use a few per screen if they are secondaries (apical growth) but if they are mains, you can still use this tutorial.

Dear LBH,

Many thanks for the above thread. Unfortunately I'm new to scrogging/topping & am confused by the overall topping sequence. I believe I understand the initial topping required [producing a 4 - way LST], its the further topping required along these 4 branches that beffudles me! Do you have by chance, any video's/photo's illustrating the above?

Many thanks,
Valyard

I know that part needs some cleaning up,lol, but it's pretty simple to explain . The initial top is whats needed to establish a 4 way plant. After that it's personal choice. When you top, you divide so One XL cola becomes 2 large cola's. If you had topped each of those arms one more time each, you'd have 8 medium colas and so on. I wouldn't do more than 3 sessions of topping including the first. I top at 4th node and top the 4 main arms once more and thats it BUT,...I'm turning over relatively small plants (6-14ozs ea), very often (12 every 4 weeks). If I were looking to veg longer and build trees, I'd top a few more times depending on how big its gonna be in the end.

Thank you LBH for the guide. I'm following this and the scrog guide for my first grow. Sorry if this has an easy answer...I'm still unfamiliar with the growth patterns of cannabis. Where are the 4 mains supposed to be? The two new branches growing out of the 4th node and two from the 3rd node?

I topped just above the 4th node, and now (a week later), I'm seeing new secondary branches growing out of nodes 1 to 4. So I have 8 new tips, 2 from each node. They're all about the same size, small and leafy, resulting in a very bushy looking plant. How do I proceed with the training from here? Thanks!

Just wait a little longer.

The 4th and 3rd nodes where the new mains are will even out in height and become the 4 new mains.

Hello,

When do you remove the hangers(if you do)?
How many plants do you recommend for a 60cmx50cm scrog size?

Thanks!

Doesn't work for clones reaper, different plant structure. :(
Hello LBH, big fan of your work. :peace:

My first grow in progress. Your particular article features in Nebula Haze's newsletter at the start of my Growing experience (very recent) captured my interest and I have endeavored to follow your advice about making a garden your own. I was hoping to gain some feedback on these girls using my version of your technique with clones to produce multiple bud sites without the need to SCRoG Clones.
I have FIMed, Topped and Low Stress Training by applying wire's and various bending/breaking/Tie Downs...etc. Girls are currently under 5k watts HPS setup with temperature/humidity, 78/72 and 48/38, highs and lows respectively.

I keep seeing it posted that LBH's LST method can't be done on clones...well I agree to disagree most cordially. :leaf:
Your feedback is most welcomed as well as others.

Thanks and good growing. :peace:

Found this via your posts in Woodsmans scrog thread. I must say, your method looks more efficient and I can't wait to run some trials of the 4 way lst under a screen this coming round! I'll try and get some pics up after I'm done.

Now it's time to do some topping again. All those nice new sprouts coming out of the middle of each arm......pull 'em! Everything DOUBLES again!! (below)
When he says "PULL EM!" Does he literally mean pull them off? Like pinch them off (FIM)? Or do you simply top them by cutting them how you normally would with a pair of scissors. I don't really see nodes or a middle growth branch on those new sprouts. Do you cut them off from the base of the main stem from which they are growing from? Where do you cut off those new sprouts?
