If you buy an mh and a hps and a light cooling system he would spend more total for the hid's than for the led's. Slam said the led's would cost more, he is wrong. VV

There are acouple of grows out there where they have grown with 70watts of leds and 70 watts of HPS and there really wasn't that much difference between them, considering the LED's cost much more than the HPS the only advantage going for LED growers is the energy efficiency...

Well energy saving i need, and no heat is even better, less for me to wire, so overall the leds seem to be a good choice, hopefully they make a good yield and the thc level will be good

I have been scanning the web all I can for LED information for growing. I haven't found anything to indicate that the LED technology is advanced enough yet to grow. That said if you bite the bullet and try I will be watching your journal with great interest.

All the best

LED's have an extremely poor Lumen output per watt so with that said, you can get more lumens per watt from a CFL vs an LED. In time however, they may come up with better LED's for growing but as of now... you're looking 90 lumens per 6 watts "approx"

So... 12 watts of LED light will net you 180 lumens. Well I've found 11 watt, 550 lumen CFL bulbs for $1 ea.

Awesome- please keep us posted.. and I would love to get a PM with a link to your journal!

I am also interested in the cost, type etc regarding your lights.

cheers
Well i've decided, and i will grow with LEDs. Within a week or two after i get my seeds from the dam and lights, i already have a closet prepared, i'll start a journal as well, then we can see if its even worth the effort

Ok well i might as well give u guys a run down on the lights, as i said b4 they are 13 watt, 168 leds, their pretty much bulbs so they screw into a normal light socket, they cost $30 each, which in euros is about 20, so cheap for me, i'm thinking about gettin two of each, the blue and red, anyone have suggestions on which strain i should try??

I am so confused as to what you have. Do you have pictures or a link to where you got it from or a similar model?

i have two of these light 12x12" panels that work pretty well.
got em off ebay for bout 45 bucks.
i am using one over the lowryders as they emit more than enough light for those lil suckers, and 2 cfls 1 daylight 1 warm white.
The kerala will e going under one also with 4 cfls for the lower branches ..

I have seen apparently good results from these, but i'm generally sceptical until i've done it myself..and they have yet to show evidence of any shortcomings.

i think its cuz they run either 12v or 110v mains... so you could easily rig up a uniross voltage 3v-12v adapter with a cig lighter on the end to run it.
