There was such a bumper crop of matsutakes this year that the prices plummeted. Personally I like boletes. They are delicious and easy to find.

I'm interested in all types of mushrooms. I started hunting this year and have been quite successful with many varieties. I haven't identified the matsutakes yet. Anyone want to meet-up someday soon to have a smoke and walk the woods looking for shrooms. I have some great spores that I would like to get started too. Anyone interested in helping out with this too? I am working on getting a clean-room setup for inoculation. I'm new to this but very motivated to learn as much as I can. Took the coarse with Paul Stamets at his place and he gave us some great spores too. I just finished my second fruiting of shitakes. Now I would like to get some of the cubensis spores I have started. Anyone in the rouge valley that has knowledge and would like to help and share, would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great New Year to all.

im from the rogue valley, im from GP.
i love to hunt mushrooms but not really shrooms cuz i dont really eat them any more. i only do once in a great while now. i was gonna start to grow a few shrooms awhile back just for fun. good luck with the shroom grow, if you go hunting in the woods for others types of mushrooms that can be sold legaly then im down

I used to go picking for Azurites on the Oregon coast...I have spent a great many years huting the fields and seeing many of the patch sites go into the bay due to erosion...There are king boulettes and lobster mushrooms in Warrenton if you know where to look at the same time of the year (late October). Kaw!

Are all boleets good to eat or are there some to avoid?
Most boletes are very good. There are a few you want to avoid but they are very identifiable.

I love looking for mushrooms of all kinds. I've got some shiitakes going on nice oak logs in my back yard. I'll be doing oysters as well. I used to pick cyans and stuntziis back in the day but I think I'm done with 'shroomin'.

Mushrooms in general are amazing.

Thanks, I'll have to see which boletes to watch for. Yea, I think mushrooms are amazing too. I am very interested in cultivating them as well as hunting. I too have a shiitake (alder) log in the yard and want to add many many more. I would also like to identify many more edible wild mushrooms in my area. :peace:
