My First Batch!! 06/16/2008

Ok so, I'm just getting started with my first batch of homegrown herb. I've already begun germinating my seeds as of last night and I'm already seeing a few start to sprout . The seeds were picked myself from bags I've rolled up over the past few months and there were maybe 15 - 20 (I don't expect them all to sprout, many seeds were small. I'd only expect 7-10).. but I only smoke the finest so I'm confident on my batch.

Well since this is my first attempt I'm not gonna go all out, my original plan was to grow them in a large plastic cups until they were maybe 12" tall and transplant them to a path in the woods nearby my house. I know a perfect place to start a garden that offers a good amount of sunlight.

To start off indoors however, I only have two desk lamps - they do, however, generate a very good amount of heat for such small lamps. I'm confident they can help my plants grow until there transplanted, but I need a few tips:

1. Would the plastic cups be a good idea? I'm trying to keep them out of sight and i feel they would work good in case I had anyone come around into my room.
2. How many sprouts should be placed in each cup/pot?
3. How often should I water my plants?
4. When and what type of Nutrients or plant food would be best to feed my plant?

Any help and suggestions are warmly welcomed!!

I always use peat pods to start then tranfer to bigger containers. Plastic cups should be okay. Only one seed per cup & do not use any nutes until after u plant them outside. I use hid lightng for all but i would at least use flours or cfl's to start. As long as the temp is 70 or above germ should be very quick. Hope this helps.:blsmoke:

Thanks for the tips!!

but when I should be adding nutrients, what are best to add? I'm making a list now to get it all out of the way.

Thanks, I found my answer. But one irritably simple question I forgot to ask: how long does this entire process of growing take?

The plant starts to bud when it gets 12 hours of darkness. If they are outdoors you might not be finished untill October. YA. This is the same problem i'm looking at, but i heard there is a strain called Low Ryder that has a extremly short growing season... looks good but i need more info on it. i also need to get high soon...

when you start out are they suppose to be on a 24/7 light schedule? cuz if so I'm going to need to be flexible around that... but like I said, it's my first grow, so I'm not planning on going all out.

Ok so here's my update:

I checked on my babies, and 6 sprouted so i went ahead and planted them.

the pics are off my phone so not the best quality. Like I said, I've got two desk lamps.. they generate a lot of heat for the size, and I'm not tryna go all out buying lights and everything. This is only until they're about a foot tall so i can plant them outside.

I used Miracle-Gro garden soil That I found in my garage. I also found some fertilizer called Lebenon Landscape or something like that. It's not liqiud so I'm guessing I shouldn't use it? It reads 15-25-16.

Theres a window right by where my plants are so I can keep the fresh air coming in, and it's in a large container right next to my bed so I can quickly hide it from anyone. The only person that knows is my brother.

If you didn't add nutes yet then you still have a chance. Let me explain:

Miracle Gro has nutes already loaded into the potting mix. At about 2-3 weeks time this starts releasing. People always have nute burn around this time with MG. So I thought you already added even more to the mix which would be overkill. That fertilizer you have is way too potent for little seedlings. Go to a local gardening center and get fish emulsion. It's like 5-1-1 and is best for vegging. Save your other nutes for flowering. Hope this explains everything a little better!:peace:
