My first Grow in a Closet Using CFL's

Hey doc .... can you explain why certain 3500k are so bad....im not an expert on k....ive heard about 6500k for veg and 2400k flower....but never knew why......

I found some on ebay, they are MUCH cheaper and still 2700k like you suggested but are only 23w compared to the ones you suggested that were 55w. Will these be fine:

It's just that 4 of the ones you mentioned will run about 70 bucks with shipping and tax. I can get 4 of these for under 20 bucks...

Well cheezy im not an expert either but i do read alot. The "K" is just Kelvin meaning the color temperature of the bulb. It doesnt mean the bulb is actually 2700 Kelvin it just means it is the degree of warmth or coolness of a light source, not with regards to the physical temperature, rather to the visual temperature of the light. The higher the degree K, the more blue or "cooler the lamp appears. The lower the degree K, the more "warm", or red the light appears. From my understand, photosynthesis takes place more efficiently during vegitation under 6500K or daylight. And the same for 2700K during Flowering. I don't know why, my friend thats just the way it is.

You could buy 26 watt 2700K bulbs at the store. I meant for higher wattage bulbs over 42 Watts that you won't find at the store.

I mean that price can't be beat and since I am on a budget I am all about saving money. I just don't want it to take away to much from my plant. Do you think it is a good choice considering my budget? Go with the 2700k 26w CFL?

I mean if that's all you can afford then yeah. But if you can get the higher watt CFL's they are better because they produce alot more lumens then those little CFL's but there have been good harvest's with alot of 26 watters.

Well it won't be more light, still will be running 4 bulbs for the one plant but it will just be more EFFICIENT BULBS FOR FLOWERING (like you say). Should I pull the 3500k and 3000k bulbs a little futher from the plant until the new ones come?

No try to keep them as close as possible. within 1-2 inches away

I thought you said that the 3500k would be the end to my plant?

No not the end of the plant, it just wont grow as fast as using the right spectrum bulb. I vegged my plants for the first 3-4 days under 3000K lights and then i added my 5000K and they are growing twice as fast now...

The point is you want to try to create the optimum growing condition for the plant so you get the most out of it.

The leaves that were drooping last night are still somewhat droopy but not as much...

Here are some pics if the wilting BOTTOM FANS, for some reason only the bottom ones are wilting...

Is it normal for the bottom fans to wilt and even have tips curling if the rest of the plant looks perfectly healthly?

Yeah it's normal if you don't supplement the lower parts of the plant with sufficient lighting. You REALLY need to get at least 1 or 2 more cfl's in there towards the side of the plant. Buy a damn table or standing lamp fixture at walmart for 10 dollars or something... It will increase the yield of the plant.

Could also be a Magnesium deficiency. Which is normally associated with lower leaves wilting and turning yellow. You can take care of that easy by adding commercial fertilizer with a magnesium content.
