New OMMP Card Holder in So Ore in need of help

First of all, Hello to this fine community and after reading numerous reply's and responses to hundreds of threads their are truly some well informed and passionate people on these forums and I feel privileged to have my questions and concerns answered by you fine people.

I am a new OMMP Card Holder and am trying to line myself up with the right people and community for information and understanding. I would like to find out if it would be beneficial to be my own grower or have someone else grow for me, Also if strongly suggested that I find a grower where can I find growers around me in the Medford area? Also what are the benefits for me being my own caregiver rather then making someone else one, Also if strongly suggested that I find a caregiver where can I find someone that will be a caregiver and what exactly will be there roll as my caregiver? Also I would like to find out if there are functions for OMMP members, Im still rather young and I didn't start smoking till I was given my card so I would like to find people my age that are OMMP members or growers that I can converse with. Well, the way things are going, I would opt for "control". Our situations are similar in a way...I've done a few co-ops, and Cannabliss in Portland was great, but who knows how long they will last before they disappear. I am tired of "relying" on other people for my meds.

I would seriously consider a very small little inside grow for you. I walked the wifey around the house and she even thought it was a good idea since I have the card, to have a small 3x3x6 tent in the basement laundry room. Invest in a light/reflector/fans blah blah...and now you are in control. You can go stealth and nobody needs to know.

I think people with cards all cross this path, one way or another. It will be a new hobby...you can raise little girls under the lights, and then stuff them in mason jars when you're done. Store 'em, smoke 'em and kick back.

I'm going to do exactly what I typed...hahaha. Hell, 25 years ago my neighbor and I grew a few plants in a little shed. Seal-a-mealed myself a buttload of bud and stored it in my freezer.

Until ganja is free and legal, this probably is the best way to go if you want total control. IMO

Honestly I like the idea of being in control of my own med's and being able to pick and choose strains to work with. My thought process is that I will end up doing a better job in the long run because of my attention to detail knowing its my medicine. But in saying that I quite literally know nothing about what makes a grow room functional let alone what will make my medicine better or even what medicine I would want to grow or need to grow etc... I own a home that has a basement that is exactly the size of my entire house that is completely empty which is about 1200 sqf. maybe about 10 feet tall. I would like to yield the maximum yearly for myself.

Sounds like you'd do great. Most of the growers talk continually about tweaking their grow. Better nutes, better lights, better seeds. My neighbor just used Miracle Gro and we laughed like banshee's when we trimmed the buds. Light...water, air, food.

You seem intelligent enough in expressing yourself, and I really have no doubt that you'd not only do great, but probably would have killer meds for your situation.

Play around that site and then dig around at other places. Even Youtube has some decent setup vids along with different tent type grows.

Spring is coming...if you get it set up, you'll be stuffing big fat mason jars full of your meds by the start of the summer.

you do not need a caregiver. If you have someone that might be getting you meds or helping you out then you can assign them as your caregiver so they are protected. Sounds like your up to do the grow yourself, Great. That's a good move, if you are up to it. just put yourself as the grower too.
Lots of information here. I suggest you study a lot before starting big. This is a great place to get help. You'll be good but it will take a bit of time to get it rite.

Not only is it safer to grow it yourself its a thing of pride. I can control what I make and what goes into my body! If u need any help pm me

A friend of mine told me that if I was to go with a grower to not settle for anything less then 4 pounds a year. Is this legal? Is this the average of what is to be expected? Thank you all for your overwhelming kindness and so welcoming so far. I hope to be apart of this community for a long time.

Yes, it is legal. I don't know what would be "expected"? How much do you need in a year? It is all up to you and the grower. I rather get one pound of killer bud than 4 pounds of fluff. I'd say that would be a more important worry.

Your absolutely right. I will have to do more research. I personally would love to start growing immediately but apparently I have to feed the kids or something first So I'll need a grower for the mean time I guess =\

Not to hard to do yourself. I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding a grower in the area. If you need advice setting something up let us know, sounds like you have the space already. Some venting, lights, a few other things and time. <that's all you need. Oh yea, and patients.

Some of the best eats in Ashland! I miss Wiley's Pasta, Vic's Mongolian Grill, Thai Pepper, Great American Pizza Co., Brother's and Breadboard for breakfast......the best....all in a town that is verrrry smoke friendly....and a hidden banjo man on Oak Street, carved out of the top of a tree, covered by bushes probably these days. Not to mention some great local deals on golf in the valley.

to the OP: do everything you need to do to grow for yourself as soon as possible. you will not regret it, and you will get a new hobby that you LOVE in so many ways.

if you need to find a grower in the meantime, check budbook.org and screen through until you find the right grower.

thats exactly what im doing your so smart. but no im just doing what he does to me for no reason. and the thread was made about a month ago and the OP has not been on since so im sure he got it all worked out.
