Well, yeah, CFLs can stimulate growth very much like HPS, especially with a good light penetration under your tops!!

Wish your new HPS has much more Lumens than the previous one, as it's an aftermarket!! Cheers!!

UPDATE FLOWERING WK 8/9 - Hey guys! I hope everyone has been enjoying following along on my journey. She is doing really well aside from a bit of nute burn here and there. I finally got the replacement HPS bulb in. I have that now paired with 4 42wCFLs. I think that should really bump it up a notch here in the home stretch. She says that she is a 10-12 week finisher. The way she looks now I would say that she has maybe 3-4 more weeks. She's really started to fatten up which is nice. Her trichome production is great as well. The trim will make some nice edibles.

I am going to continue with nutes right up until the last week or so, then do a comprehensive flush. She has a great smell to her. Very mild and sweet. She is looking like I will definitely get at least 3 zips but not sure if we can push 4. I'm hoping to push her until the last possible moment. I want to get a 85/15 cloudy/amber trich mix. Anyhoo here she is!

UPDATES! FLOWERING WK10 - Hello RIU! I hope everyone had a great holiday. I know some had to work, and my hats to you sir(s) and madam(s). I got to spend some time away in the country to relax with family and friends.

I had a close buddy caring for my girl while I was gone. Looks like we both gained weight lol! She fattened up quite a bit. She has also got really shiny with THC. This looks to be like the best grass I have ever grown, ever. I just hope she's got the bite with the bark.

The bud is rock solid in most places which is great. She has a very muted scent. Just brushing a bud will make your arm sticky as a buger hah.

She is sucking life out of the fan leaves faster than I can feed them. I had to pull a few leaves off. I am going to play around with more nitrogen in flower with my next grow. I don't defoliate. I do however, take off dead leaves or ones with major with necrosis. I haven't found any scientific proof as to why it would work. I do understand the thought about it. Why would mother nature put them on the plant, if that wasn't what she intended. Anywhoo. Here is your bud porn for the evening. Merry Christmas and all that jazz!

^ Love it....

I have started to pick a bit more, but that's not saying much. I usually only pick dead or slightly necrosed [actually scissor trim a majority] leaves too.

But I have only upticked on picking the big water leaves and really where they block light. I just read the argument that indoors artificially can create more growth to water leaves than is needed.

To be honest, most of my experience [99%] is outdoors and I usually take a do-nothing approach outdoors and they develop similar growth habits as to indoors too. So I am entirely working on opinion here, by picking some of the fat water leaves. Mainly just an experiment to gain empirical knowledge....I hope, or Im just really baked and pontificating out my bung. :peace:

Happy new years, good growing!

mad your girl is looking Epic! we will both be cutting around the same time.
Thanks Reku!! I can't wait to see yours dried and cured...I want to take a snipping of mine so bad it hurts lol.

Hey man looking great how much heat does that hps put off in space like that ?
To be honest not much at all. Then again it's winder in the North East and I keep my apartment cold. During the summer it gave me constant heat problems, it was hard to keep her under 90F. It won't be an issue once I create a new door and exhaust system for her. It's only a 150. I'd like to eventually move to a 400w, but that is a few grows away. Thanks for the positivity snook!!

Hmm I live in New England I need a light for another grow I'm starting winters I'd be fine with an hid lamp but I think I'm leaning towards l.e.d now but your gettin some great results for only a 150 w keep on growin man :weed:

Thanks for the kind words snook. I have been looking into doing LEDs for quite some time now actually. They use less energy and create less heat. The thing is that I'm scared though. There are so many cheap chinese boards that I don't want to buy the wrong one and end up with a dud in the middle of my grow. I also don't want to spend hundreds of $$ for a name brand board. If you read up on anything interesting, let me know.

If I was to pontificate scientifically, I would say that the water leaves are one usually found on node-less branchs or where a crotch doesn't have meristem. These are the down low leaves that are fat and juicy thru veg but start to die off 1st during flowering. I work these over for a shade canopy and pick all the larf.

I do have a method and its really to pick where it distracts from growth and pretty much not cut much else. I don't top either just heavy lst. [unless there is an accident]

I remember my 1st patient I grew for, I came over once and he was just picking leaves like they were beans up and down the whole lady, 8-9 weeks into flower. Handfuls of leaves just picked to make the plant look "nicer". :peace:

Skp Chinese Made Piece's of Trash, just not worth it.

I have thought long and hard about expensive lights Hans, A51, Apache...in the end when factoring in the ENTIRE cost of HID and LED fixtures they are about the same, with less maintenance from LED grow's, cuz the elements of heating and cooling change.

That said, it is still a new tech, we are all still trying to dial in that plant specific [R&B alone is not what a plant exclusively wants] spectrum, so shit is a little fussy...

2nd, I just put together an idea and cost list for some DIY cob lights using Cree 2530 Diodes [could be the most efficient of all Cree phospor diodes at the moment].....hit me up if interested, I will share....$70 roughly for every 50+ watts with a DIY hood doubling as a heat-sink.

I have been designing it over Christmas, as eventually I will have to move on from light bulbs.

Hey man. Your grows coming along huh? I sent you message to extract some information about the LED panel you are putting together, but alas..no reply :( lol.

Hey everyone! Happy new years. We made it. I'd like to bring in the new year with some dang homegrown. I'm hoping she finishes up in the next week or so, but she just keeps foxtailing and going! No real signs of amber, except for here and there a single. It's about 50/50 cloudy/clear. She really put on some weight this week though, that's for sure.

Just did my last feeding of Cha Ching. It will be water w/molasses every other watering from here.

Oh, craziest thing. You can see in the second picture that she is turning a shade of red/purple. I think I'm going to reveg her to clone her. I'm loving what I'm seeing so far.

Sorry for the crooked picture, I had it corrected, but when it uploaded it went back..hmm...probably user error!
