Hey Brick Top, your post about why you don't post pics any more makes complete sense to me (You said you wish that could be "Stickey", why don't you shorten it and put it in your Sig?) I live in a Med state however I was careless with pics in the past and posted some of 15 Clones and 2 mothers, that's 12 more than my legal limit, it did dawn on me about things in the background leading the cops to me, I was a little worried my door would get kicked in but my friend said that's small beans to them and they most likely wouldn't bother with me.

OK, now can we please get back to posting only CMH related information here, PLEASE!!!!! If you want to talk about other things please go to another thread or start one your self. The next posts I see here better be regarding CMH People! I don't mean to be a jerk but I will start reporting posts!!!

That's the thing, I really cannot say that I have any real thoughts or opinions other than what I have said, that it appears to be a gimmick,
A gimmick? CMH bulbs were made for the warehouse lighting industry. They happen to grow plants as well.
because no one I asked has explained to me how wavelength/spectrum that is hardly or not used, but is put out by CMH bulbs, is more beneficial to plants than flooding them with more narrow wavelength/spectrum that are mostly what plants need during vegging and later flowering.
I think it's pretty obvious that CMH bulbs grow plants differently. I wouldn't call it better or worse, just different. Actually, plants require a range of wavelengths in order to grow properly whether in veg or flower. During flower, they utilize red light more since that is where the majority of the "driving photosynthetic energy" comes from to transform the light energy into buds, but they still need all the other wavelengths in order to maintain good health. CMH light consists of all the required wavelengths, just not in the proper balance, therefore adding additional red light (from another light source) would make CMH much more effective than HPS since they run cooler, etc. When comparing HPS bulbs to CMH bulbs as a stand alone light source, it's like comparing my shit to yours. However, if you had the choice of doing a multiple light source grow between either (CMH + Red LEDs) or a grow with (HPS + Red LEDs), the CMH + Red LEDs would whip the HPS's ass since the HPS bulbs do not emit a healthy amount of blue and red light like the CMH bulbs do. And that's a fact!

As stated there designed for warehouse/industrial lighting, the only way they could be a gimmick would be if someone selling them provides false specifications about them.

OK, so I was planning on using a 400W CMH + a 250W HPS in a 4'x6'x2' box, however after reading your posts I'm beginning to believe a 400W HPS + a 250W CMH would produce better results, that would be closer to the 6:1 ratio you are referring to, right?

They don't make a 250w CMH do they? A 400w CMH + 400w HPS would do fine. Right now I'm running a 400w Hortilux Blue MH + 400w Hortilux HPS + UVb. I did try the CMH + HPS before, but I liked the color rendition from the HPS + MH blue better. I can't say one way or the other if one mixture is better than the other or not. They are probably pretty similar.,

Oh yes there are 250W CMH, there are even 50W CMH which I believe is the lowest they go. So if a 6:1 ratio is the best for flowering then it would seem a 400W HPS + 250W CMH would be better than the other way around, more red light than blue right? Unfortunately my space is too small to run 2 x 400W HID's and I have to keep power consumption to a minimum as we have old wiring and circuit brakers that trip when you look at them wrong, lol.

Oh, right on then! I had no idea about the 250 CMH. I'm sure it would work well.

Here is a photo of a bud that has been growing under a 400w HPS + 400w Hortilux Blue, (roughly 6 inches tall),

I wish I still had pictures from my first and second grow, using only CMH lights... I do have a pic of fruit automatic finished under a 250W CMH, and a Picture of my chocolope in veg, under 800W of CMH. It is my personal opinion that the CMH lights do help with resin production, but I am lacking more photos to back it up :(

CMH comes in 250W and 400W that use magnetic ballasts, below that wattage they use pulse start metal halide ballasts. I know for a fact they go down to 75W bulbs.

Uhh, this flowering plant is under CMH only? Seems like enough proof to me! That's the nicest looking plant/bud I have ever seen grown indoor!

I wouldnt dare say its one of the nicest I have seen on this forum, but I do think my CMH grows turn out better than my friends HPS grows do. I usually have more resin than my buddies, but still the taste and smell are better from my friends organic grows.

If we, as indoor gardeners are trying to replicate the sun with our lights, why not get the bulb that is closest to the suns spectrum? It just makes sense to me

Lastly, if you use a CMH make sure you have some good sun glasses when working in your garden, the reason MJ loves it so much is the same reason you should use eye protection!

I'll use this Phillips CMH for 80% of the grow, just will insert a HPS at fifth week of flower, to bulk up then switch back to finish with that UVB/CMH

Here is my current grow under a 250 CMH. Long story but the mother started as a seed was from a Blue Mystic grow that was heat stressed. (started to throw seeds) 12+ weeks flowering..

I failed to notice the title moderator by your username. Do you by chance happen to be a Secret Squirrel, Matt Helm, Derek Flint secret agent man mod? If not, than you cannot kick anyone out of anything. A thread starter is just that, a thread starter, and nothing more. They do not own the thread and starting one does not grant them moderator power and authority over the thread and anyone and everyone who joins in.

But, to show that I am a nice guy, if Tweedle Dumb stops what he started, I am more than willing to forgive and forget and let bygones be bygones.
HAHAHAHA

If u wont be my friend ill tell mum...
