Silicon Valley's Luxim has developed a lightbulb the size of a Tic Tac that gives off as much light as a streetlight. News.com's Michael Kanellos talks to the company about its technology and its plans to expand into various markets. Take a look at this video. The lightbulb of the future?

It's very interesting, but i noticed they said it only got about 140 lumens per watt, Standard HPS's put out these numbers already. Sunmaster makes a bulb that puts out 150,000 lumens for a 1000watt.

I was just looking these up, still cant buy them off-the-shelf as far as I can tell, but certainly looks better than LED!

lol yea, but whats the glass like with something so small. it could be easily broken? who knows, pretty neat peace.

What interests me is that the guy said the spectrum is very similar to sunlight when it reaches earth. That would have to be great for growing!

I wonder IF it would be hard to keep cool at 6000 degres.thats bad ass though .somebody just got rich.,

Could be wrong but wasn't the 6000 degrees Kelvin, in other words color temp. Being close to the sun? Or am I just high and confused?
