As far as I know, they not that good for flowering. You couldnt add an led light with alot of red and youll have a pretty sweet set up

At this time they are hard to get a hold of and cost a ton. They are good for growing as they have made a full spectrum bulb and eventually there will be color specific. Its something like 100watt bulb thats less then half inch in size equals like a 1500 watt hps bulb.. Heres some info on them and a video showing the grow plasmas in use. Monster Gardens sells them.... bring lottsa money...

not even close to true...but looking promising for the future

by the time they are functional i bet everyone will have switched to LED's and junked their HID.
Doubtful.

LEDs are old technology and have an inherently inefficient design that will not allow vertical growing. 1x 600w HPS = more yield per energy cost by a lot over a 600w LED.

Not to be a party pooper, but those buds don't look all that big. Of course I don't know the strain or how many weeks they are into flowering .Based off of those pics, HID is still pulling ahead. I'm eager to jump to plasma but I need better proof before I make the large investment that they are.

I doubt vertical growers will ever ditch HIDs.

HIDs efficiency is found in different ways. I still think they are the most efficient light source if used without reflectors and hung vertically.

These have me curious though. I wonder what kind of design limitations their are and whether we'll see one designed to be hung vertically ever.
