I ran a business for 20 years as well as working my factory job. Kids and whatnot. Stopped smoking weed for 23 years as I didn't have the money or time. I paid lot's of taxes in many ways. Now youngsters complain about the smallest things. My cell phone don't work, my cable is out, I got vd. I drove a car for 6 months with no brakes to speak of. We were eligible for food stamps in the military. It's going to be a great retirement. Love this site.

I'm confused. While in the military did you not get BAS and apply for FSSA. Why would you get food stamps ?

Married 1 child. BAQ $65 a month. Singlewide trailer off base was $125 a month. BAS $35 pay around $140 a month. Simple. I fit the income profile. I did not take food stamps. Most did. What branch were you in?

Yeah airman pay is pretty low. Especially if you not getting any special pay like flight pay or hazard pay. I loved going TDY because I knew I was to be making extra dough. I"m assuming you got out before 2001 ?

Ok now I see. Well now they have this thing called Family Subsistence Supplemental Allowance. Makes it so service members do not have to apply for welfare. They boost your income with an 850-1100 month increase depending on family count

No used furniture etc. Nobody had any money. But a pitcher of beer was 65 cents. But I didn't drink.

Damn you got out as an e3. WTF were you doing to fuck up your promotions ?
It was different in my day. It was based upon score but time in service would hold you back. Not many people got out of crypto hence slow upgrade path. They don't even have a afcs now. It's very different. Now they hand them out.

But most places have no base housing unless you are e5 or above. Off base rent is expensive.

You dont test until e4 guy
Dude you should have at least made E-4 senior airman or buck sergeant you get that 36 month automatic with time in service.and 20 months time in grade or 28 months time in grade which ever comes first. Getting out an e-3 means you did something in those 4 years to not get promoted. Were you a bad boy ?;)

I also find this in red confusing because the airforce does not base promotions on vacancies in job. Air Force gives the same promotion percentage to all of their AFSCs. That shit is done by the Army, Marines, and the Navy. Not the Air Force. Your rank has NOTHING to do with how many people are in your job skill, if the Air Force decides that it needs to promote 25 percent of all of their eligible E-4s to the grade of E-5 during the next year, each and every Air Force AFSC (job) will promote 25 percent of the current force.
