I've read about this and could never notice a difference but I don't have a very discerning palate.
I guess if you leave a bottle half full for some time it can oxidize. It would be interesting to open a new bottle and have a taste test.......for science 8)

I've heard that too, I guess the best you can do is (for spirits) store upright, good cork, cool temp, low light. I never had anything expensive enough to worry about (or that stuck around that long) ;)

I have a pretty old unopened bottle of Dewar's from my grandparents. I've always wanted to try it but it's kinda cool leaving it the way it is.
