Scrog growers thread

I'm not running DWC's in each container...

What's going to happen is that water will stay in an external reservoir. From there it will be pumped to a drip ring that will drip down, along the roots, to the bottom of the bucket, where it will then drain out, back into the reservoir...from there, the process will repeat itself, so if I ever needed to change the water, I only have to drain the reservoir that actually holds my water, not the buckets that hold my roots...because except for the little bit of water there is that's stuck on the roots and at the bottom of the bucket, there's practically no water in there to change out, and whatever is stuck in the bucket while I'm changing out my water will only get flushed out when the new water is cycled through the system.
Ohh ok,thats why I asked,so all your plants will be sharing the same reservoir then you still need to consider that when selecting the strains you will grow. When will you start to set up??

hey jcdws can you explain what you did here in the first picture you posted? im interested in trying hydroponics when it cools down a bit.
It is a simple ebb and flow style (flood and drain) set up,3'x3' botanicare grow tray that sits on top of a 27 or 28 gallon tote (I don't remember) that is also the reservoir, and a 18 gallon tote in the back as support and a little taller so the water always drains properly. As medium I use rockwool cubes and hydroton. The tray floods 3x's a day in 30 minute intervals.Very simple and effective system. You have to monitor your ph,ppm's,and reservoir temps, and change the res every 1-2 weeks and thats all,no bugs and messy soil to deal with.

what exactly does the 18 gallon tote do? support...? what you mean?

Yeah just as support, and it's a little bit taller than the 27-28 gallon tote so the water drains all the way out.If not roots sit in water and start to rot.

I'm actually going to be sticking with only one type of crop this time around...I really like the look of Wonder Woman (http://www.nirvana-shop.com/feminized-cannabis-seeds/wonder-woman.html). What would you recommend?
...huzzah? lol
Never grew or smoked that strain, hopefully you get the pheno that flowers in 9 weeks 11 is just too long for me.I research every strain before I grow it,some tend to be real nutrient sensitive.I stick with strains that have a flowering period of 7-9 weeks and are very tolerable to stress and nutrients.

oh ok, so the bigger container holds the pump and water and a timer turns the pump on a couple times a day to saturate the roots which live in the smaller container. then it all drains back into the bigger container and the process is repeated.

Yeah...I was actually planning on running the drip system continuously...I don't see any harm in that...

Yup the tote contains the pump, air stone (to aerate water),and the water+nutrients, the pump turns on and fills the the grow tray and drains back into the tote, the tray has 2 holes,1 where the pump is hooked up to,and the second hole has an overflow pipe so the tray doesn't overfill.

Something like this but without the containers

do you have any literature on the pros and cons of each type of hydroponic system? what made you choose this system, over continuous drip or bubbleponics?

Put simply, its ease of use.Drip is easy also but you need lines and drippers that can clog, bubbleponics (Deep water culture (dwc) is more for a person that likes to veg longer and grow monsters, plus too many containers for how many plants I grow to maintain.I do have some litterature on hydroponics in general, and how to build sytems. It's a kick ass book.Pm me if you are interested I can send you an ebook copy

Looking good

My sloppy scrog 3 weeks into flowering at the moment picture is like a week old,I am still weaving a little bit.The canopy is uneven due to some of my clones being a little small but ehhh I'm still gonna have some nice nuggz.
