I am awaiting a cutting but I is looking less likely that it will turn up so I thought that I would do a grow till I get some good genetics,
So here is my second grow, I am growing in a DWC aka bubbler.
I have decided to make my bubbler instead of buying oxy pots,
Got a 17 litre plastic box and lid from wilkos £ 2.25 this will be my DWC (pic 1)

Got 2 bird feeders cut in half will make good net baskets 49p each (pic 2)
2 air stones £ 1 each
Air pump borrowed of a fellow grower (thanks)
Air line 75p
Flow control valves for air line £ 1.50.
(Pics 3, 4)
Built the DWC not very happy with the amount of air produced from the pump I think I will have to change things a bit here it is for now
I put some seeds to germinate 2 days ago, these were put in toilet paper and then wrapped in panda plastic and left on my PC monitor, they are now splitting and the tap root is exposed on a few so I have transplanted the split seeds in to a homemade heated propagator (pic5)
2 washing up bowls, a heat mat (I used to have an iguana), temp control unit, a mini propagator and a warm air heater. (pic6)
So I have put 15 seeds in to root riot cubes if you have never used root riot instead of rock wool you might like to look it to it I have had no trouble with them and they are less hassle that rock wool,
I will just have to wait now

Nothing today
2008-07-14
Ok I checked late tonight to find (pic7)
Now I need 2 propagators one in darkness and one in 24 hour light,
That a project for tomorrow.

Today I got the bigger propagator out and left the small one in the washing bowl and covered it and put the bigger one on top.( pic

Also another 6 seeds have sprouted (pic9)
They seem to be doing very well. The only thing I am doing at the moment is to spray them twice a day with water phed at 5.8.
I also changed the DWC to make it bigger I got 3x24 litre boxes, 2 net pond baskets , some clay balls (from a fellow grower) and got a better air stone still need a better pump,
(pic10, 11)
Quite happy with this it gives me plenty of room to play with,
Update so tonight I was playing about in my grow room when I found a problem with the DWC ver.2
The centre of the lid is too weak and fell in need to remodel this but yet again this can wait till the morning.
2008-07-16
So redid the DWC its now the DWC ver.3
This time I am going to fit just the one basket, a new 2outlet pump (180 litre per hour) and put panda plastic (black & white) on the lid to stop light getting to the water in the DWC as it can cause algae and other problems. Also the seedlings are progressing nicely so I am going to ph the water to 5.8 and put them in.
AND so starts the journal proper
Seedlings moved to DWC
Water phed to 5.8
No nutes just yet
24 hour light 2 cfl 125w one red one blue
Room temp about 80
Water temp 72
Humidity with lid up to 100% without lid 50-60% this will have to come up in the next week or so
DWC ver.3 (pic12, 13)
I cut the bottoms of the propagator tray so the root riot cubes come out the bottom of the tray.
The water is nicely aerated now (pic14)
The seedlings are doing well but I am now thinking that when I come to change the plants to single net pots I might have some problems getting them out, the net on the basket is very fine and the clay ball wont help I think I will think about this over night. But here is another pic from today. (pic15)
2008-07-17
First things first
Ph was up to 6.1 so added .03mil of ph down now at 5.8
Temp remains stable
Changed the basket removed the clay balls and removed most of the fine net on the bottom of the basket this should help facilitate any moving they need to do. (pic16) they are spending about 2-3 hours a day with the propagator lid off so I have started the fan at the back on slow just to move the air and promote a healthy stem.(pic 16)
Here are a couple of pics first was taken this morning and the second tonight. (pics18, 17)
They are coming along.
Heres a nice pic of a seedling just out of the shell. (Pic 19)
2008-07-18
So decided to add some nutes today and some h2o2
Added
Ionics nutes at 2mil per litre (should be 7mil)
Added 5mil of h2o2 to 20 the litres
Ph when up to 6.4, ph down .09mil now at 5.8
I have changed the spray from phed water to a formulex (ionics nute) mix twice a day
Bar that the temp remains good, i am increasing the time the seedlings are out of the propagator.
I also borrowed an extra red 125w envirolite so now there are 2x red 125w and one blue 125w. (Thanks again
URBAN MIST)
Had a new one sprout today, I will only be taking 6 plants in to the next stage. But I think I might have a buyer for 4 of the others at £5 each which is ok to say they are not sexed
So here are two pics taken this afternoon.(pics 20,21)
Thats it for today
2008-07-19
Added 1200mil of water plus 4mil ionics grow nute
Ph today was 6.0 added ph down .04mil now at 5.8, everything else remains the same
The seedlings are doing very well I think they liked the shot of nutes, also another 2 sprouted today only 2 left to go now.
So some pics a few from this morning. (pics 22,23,24)
I will add some more pics later
Pics 10pm (pic25)
2008-07-20
Ph 6.1
Add 5mil h2o2
Added ph down .04mil ph now 5.8
Temp remains same
Pics 11am
(pics26, 27)
pictures 11pm (pics 28,29)
Humidity dropping badly in this new room its drops to 30-35% I am going to have to do something about this soon.
2008-07-21
Ph up to 6.2 added ph down .05mil ph now 5.8
Room humidity remains a problem 30-40%
Temp is ok the temp on the pics is radiant heat and is higher than the room temp which is 76-82. (pics 30,31)
Ok so I made a bad mistake I had to go out and I left the top of the propagator off came back to find that one leaf had some problem, it had curled up at the end and dried up the humidity was 30%, I think this and the fact that the fan at the back of the room blowing cool air across the bulbs had fell over, the room temp was the same 80f but the radiant heat was up to 98f this I think has damaged that leaf. No other damage I gave them an extra spray and left the top down for a few hours,
(Pics32, 33)
I cut the leaf I should have taken a pic first but hay. I dont think this will affect the overall growth of that plant we shall see.
2008-07-22 DAY 10
So I topped up the water today it was 800mil short added 2mil nute (its close to a litre)
Added 5mil H2O2
Ph was 6.1 added .035mil of ph down ph now 5.8
I knew that hydro was a faster growth medium but I am impressed, they are only 8 days old, this is the bit I missed as on my first grow I got plants that were older than these, the plant that lost some of its leaf is fine and showing no ill effect from its ordeal,
(pics34, 35)
Ok so as you can see they are filling out a bit now so I am going to remove some of them to make room, I have decided to remove the 4 smallest and the 2 biggest the 8 I am left with are all the same size or near. As I said I have a buyer for 4 of these he can have the 2 biggest in the soil pots and 2 out of the hydro, when I choose which 6 I want to keep for the next stage of growth.
Here are some pics
(pics36, 37, 3
So now I just have to wait and see which 6 are best. I had forgotten how much I liked this first bit and I must admit that messing about with the hydro stuff is fun.
2008-07-23
Ph 6.0 added ph down .03mil ph now 5.8
All temps remain steady
I am looking in to humidifiers but with the school holidays coming money is going to be tight.
All the plant s are doing well its the last you will hear about the soil plants as they are not part of this journal now but they have transplanted nicely, by the 25 I will have chosen which 6 will go to the next stage this is a 6 pot DWC (single net pots) same container. I will post some pics of that nearer the time so here are a couple of pics.
(Pics 39, 40, 41)
Here are a couple of pics from tonight
(pics42,43)
2008-07-24
Topped up water with 850mil with 2mil nute
Added 5mil h2o2
Ph of 6.0 ph down .025mil ph now 5.8
Wow these plants are getting a bit big now might have to change plans and transfer them tomorrow.
There is minor curling of the leaves but only on one or two, this could be the start of Magnesium (Mg) deficiency. I will keep an eye on it if it gets worse i will start foliar spray with mag cal.
Bar that the plant are looking good, i have found out today that i will not be getting any cuttings as the person got busted its so sad but he was putting out 100 cuttings every two weeks and growing to sell so pretty much a commercial grower, so now i am glad i started this. I will be looking in to getting a proper strain after the school holidays as money is going to be tight.
So here are a few pics i thought that i would put one in of the root system
