They do just fine mate, trust me! Been doing this along time, I'm in my fifties now and started back in eighties.....and I'm posting in the CFL section so I hoped I'd be amongst kindred spirits here :-)

Like I said, I get everything I want/need from my ladies and thats my bottom line. Why not stick around and watch her flower ....I'll show you what CFL's really CAN do!

Anyway, good to meet you Mcgician :-)

Heres some of what her mother plant produced last grow and a shot in late flowering of the last 2 NL's.... CFL's CAN do the job if you use them correctly.

Wow awesome my friend. I'm a newbie to the site but been pullin down this grow thing for about a decade and i'm super stoked about trying the cfl thing. Especially after seeing how sucessful you can be at it! Those are some nice nugs. I also am growin N.L right now from weed-seed.net and it looks very similar although its an outdoor grow. I noticed in one of your pics that one of your plants where growing in a single blade leaf pattern. I too have one outside like this. Is it typical for you with this strain? -In any case VERY VERY NICE!!

Day 39 of 12/12.

Just another 3 weeks or so now to pack out those buds :-) Trich development is very good
So with having only 3 weeks left will this be your last week of nutes?
Or will you be looking for something in your plants? (since you have had so long.)

Trich? Is that when you crimp or break your stalks? If so I thought that was done more in the growth stage?

Great job, that little guy looks great

I am interested in using mollases with my grow, I started the 12/12 cycle today

Do you use anything else for bloom the bio bizz & cann PK stuff that sounds good for the end of the cycle I will look into that

What are you using for a filter / air filtration / clean air out?

Thanks and keep up the great work

It's lookin good, I am continuing to follow your thread as my grow is about a week behind yours!

Love & Peace :peace:
Wow, thanks for all the comments and feedback, it makes running a diary thread wothwhile :-)

golddog: hello again, from one 'mature' grower to another :-) Good to see your experiment is going well, I'm following it.

SICC: thanks again, I've added a couple of shots below of some dry buds cut from the mother plant of this NL, previous grow. It's keeping me happy!

Big Worms way: What I have noticed with this plant and the mother is a lot of 'even' finger numbered leafs. 4's and 6's ! As for CFL's well, in my case I have 350watts concentrated right above this single plant and they work very well, its a lot of light in such a small space :-)

nolimits: Yes I grow using only CFL's. There are some experienced and skilled CFL growers in this section, ask away with questions and if I can't answer them I'm sure others can and will :-) Good luck.

diet103: Thank you. About 3 weeks to harvest now, she will be end of week 6 12/12 on Sunday coming so we should see them start to fatten up from now.

jjmd: Hi,hope your plants doing well. By trichomes I am refering to the tiny stalk like resin glands that cover the buds. NL produces good resin production at quite an early stage I find. Re watering, well I'm having to water almost daily now! I'm putting about 1.5 litres through the pot each time (I like to see plenty of run off at this stage) and shes light as a feather next day. If I can give you one tip for mid/late flowering jjmd it is to make sure you water well and don't actually let the pot dry out too much in between waterings like you would in veg.

Tcurtis: I dont use filters, its just a single plant tucked away upstairs in my house. Mollases are well worth using, no doubt about that in my mind that the carbs add weight but it also works in the soil.

Just a couple of pics of some buds from the donor plant and you can see the follow up clone now vegging in the background. I'll begin LST on her in about a weeks time.

Cheers again all.

Hi, newbie here to Rollitup but long time grower. As the title suggests I grow a vigorous pheno of original NL by Nirvana. She just jumped out at me a couple of years ago, explodes in veg and early flowering so I stuck with her :-) I don't keep a mother but I take just 2 cuttings each time to keep me rolling over.

Some pics of current lady below, its day 16 of 12/12 after only a 2 week veg period after rooting, any longer and I can't contain them in my cabinet! Topped once and LST'd to give the canopy some shape.

Feeding BioBizz grow and bloom nutes, plus I give just one shot of PK13/14 (canna) 3 weeks before finishing. Shes a 9 week finisher on average. I water tap water stood for 24 hours to de- chlorinate, and PH'd down to 6.4.

What else? ....... 350watts of CFL's mainly 2700's but including 80 watts of 6500 'blue' all spirals.

**********************************
OK, so day 16 of 12/12 as I said. You can also see the 2 cuttings I took a few days ago, they will be the follow up grow.

Hope you enjoy my grow, any other dedicated NL growers please post here, be intersted to hear from you :-)

Cheers,

ms.
hi good luck with your grow a few quick question for you im just starting a new NL grow chose this strain because of the low height and also the fame of a great high etc I have a clone/veg room/box about 4 foot with 250 cfl and flowering room/box of 2m x 1.5 x 1 mt with a 400w HPS etc

1. I am having a little trouble germinating the seeds i put 6 seeds into ph 5.5 / formulex cf 10 plus a touch of rhizotonic in rockwool - after 3 days 2 popped up the other 4 seem a little slow - is this normal.

2. I too plan to have no mother plants just taking a few cuttings from each plant for my next crop - where on the plant did you get the cutting i.e.
top - middle or low half. or whats the best place to get your cuttings in this way.

3. Are there any tips for growing Norther Lights specifically or any warnings

Thanks thedrewby321

I am planning on taking it to a hydro bucket. just for the experiment of it.

jjmd, That looks really good :-) Nice and healthy, its clearly going well.

grow space: Thank you. Appreciate it :-)

thedrewby371: Thanks for looking in here. To try and answer your questions:

1. I always germinate my seeds in paper towel and 2/3 days is average, but give them time.

2. Cuttings, I take mine from right down the bottom, low as possible. I do this as I take them a couple of weeks into flower so the lower ones are less advanced. I take 4" cuts as I find that small cuts root faster.

Good luck with your grow.

GFK: Thanks again :-)

UPDATE AT DAY 42, END OF WEEK 6 12/12.

Few more pics. She's starting to ripen now but I hope she will go another 3 weeks yet. Condition overall not great but buds doing fine!

Also a shot of the single cutting taken from her, now in first week of veg.

..And one more shot, a close up of one of the buds :-) I had to take her outdoors to get anything decent with my old camera as the sun reflected the crystals!
Damn man, everything is lookin great +REP
Again thanks for all the comments, SICC, lee420, PBF &Tamuuli :-) .......

However, I was unhappy with the overall condition of the plant as I said above SO on Sunday I took the decision to take a look at her roots to see how they looked! To do this I had to cut all of the LST strings . I decided to repot her into some fresh soil just to give a bit of a boost for the last couple of weeks or so as the bottom layer of sphagnum moss that I had lined the pot with was pretty soggy. She will be OK now to finish but a couple of lessons learned:

* This is only the second time I have completely lined the pot with the moss as an experiment and from now on I will shred the moss and mix it with the soil mix (BioBizz 'allmix' I am told contains spag moss used this way) My theory is that the moss layer may have been retaining excess nutes which has caused PH swing and when I flushed it may have washed out those excess nutes which were taken up too suddenly. I welcome any comments/ thoughts about this?

******************************
So, UPDATE AT 6 weeks/3 days 12/12. I'm happier with things now but shes finishing fast! I reckon 2 more weeks will do her.

Here she is, new larger pot and no LST strings :eyesmoke: I think I'll just leave her to finish as she is now.

Just goes to show, grows don't always go according to plan and sometimes you have to take action. Will update again in a few days and I hope to show those buds swelling!
