Who knows? Maybe Obama will do what he says. It would be a refreshing first. If he does what he said he'd do, I'm pretty sure assassination would be on the table. You can't fuck with the PTBs (Powers that be)

Funny thing is, most in this thread have an opinion of T. Boone Pickens By what they read about him on the Internet. (Which he pays people to polish his image) People in my Part of the Country Know what he is about by his actions.
Most of what I know about Boone Pickens is dated by twenty years. Regardless of your opinion of him, for better or worse, he is a rather iconic individual.

WTF are you driving, an F-15? Because that is about the only thing that will beat me from 60-150. With that overdrive trans, I can do 150@6500rpm and actually the motor will twist to 7500, so bye-bye to you my friend, whoops, I actually slipped and called you friend. I'm sure that's up for debate.
Most vehicles do not have overdrive. But, I bet yours gets better mileage at 70 than it does at 55. Most vehicles get their best mileage at 55-60.

I think he is in great danger. I suspect even some democrats would consider plotting an accident for him.

I drive a Toy Echo, it lets me drive fast w/o to much pollution 35mpg at 85 running a/c, you can get 40mpg but you REALLY have to baby it,and no a/c.
I have 110 mile commute (round trip)

As to Obama, some asshole better not kill him.
I hate W with a passion, but killing,no way.

Well, geeze, I thought you knew more about cars. Since the early '90's most auto Mfgrs. have made overdrive transmissions. All earlier transmissions had a 1:1 final drive ratio. In the first overdrives I believe they had a .80:1 and later .75, .70 and some 6 speed trannys have like a .68:1. My Nova has a 95 GMC 700R-4 overdrive 4 speed automatic with a final drive ratio of .70:1. My dodge pickup, '04' has a similar final drive ratio. BTW this car is not about mileage, It probably will see more 1/4 mile bursts than not but then again be able to cruise the freeways @ 80MPH at 3,000 RPM, but with 500 Hp, mileage is not the objective. Yeah, I know do the math, at 6,000 RPM it would be going 160 and the motor will hold up to 7500 which would be like 202 MPH and I'll guarantee you it will never see that speed with me in it.

I had a '93 Camaro Z-28, was a bit modified to make it look vaguely like Knight Rider's car. Got rid of that about ten years ago, and been on 4-cylinder Toyotas since then. But then I saw Transformers, and man, I wanted that new Camaro, whenever they come out with it. I started dreaming, thinking it might just work out...and then gas prices lunged higher on me, making that look way less practical.

On the other hand, I'm older now, so I'd get cheaper insurance, which I could then put toward gas. Ahhh, there I go, trying to talk myself into it again, gotta stop that!

The point is this, there are many solutions to the energy crises and most people are mortified at any one of them. This country STILL doesn't give a damn about conservation.

That's changing guys. Market forces are causing Americans to buy smaller, more fuel efficient cars. Have any of you checked the prices of used trucks and SUVs lately? How's the motorhome business doing?

Haha, the motorhome business is dead, stick a fork in it. Well, not quite I guess. Rich folks can still pay a dollar a mile to drive around the country. But the era when average retired people hit the roads in luxurious 40' diesel pushers is about over. That's probably a good thing.

Yeah, now they can sit in their homes, without AC (unless they're rich, of course), and dream of having an exciting, fun retirement. "Look, a bird.....oh, there it goes."
