Don't waste your time with such a small grow show. The yield you'll get won't even be worth the electricity bill. Check out the CFL section of this site and take note of how many PC grows actually finish. A very small number turn out successful and even at that, the rewards will be all smoked up in just a few days.

Okay so for a few autoflowering plants for personal medicinal use, nothing LARGE. Would a 2' 4 lamp HO t5 be good @ 8k lumens? Our should I go with a 2' 6 lamp HO t5 sporting 12k lumens?

Also I planned on staggering bulb type from the start, like half bloom half veg, until I see pre-flowers then go all bloom bulbs.

What do you guys think?
8 bulb t5 ho fixture is good for 2-3 plants. No more. That's 432 watts

I wouldn't go with 2ft bulbs. You can get 20k lumen off of 4- 4ft bulbs. you can get a 4ft- 8 bulb for under $300

Day 50 of Grow.

Not sure i'll be doing another T5 grow. The constant requirement of canopy management is a real pain in the dick.

I spent a ton of money on "par" bulbs such as REd Suns, Actincs, Fiji Purples etc only to find out the plants that are growing the biggest and densest nugs are the ones under the 3000k bulbs with a couple of Flora Suns tossed in. Go figure.

These plants started small. About 2-3 weeks earlier than I would typically like. Thats the only way to get that many under each 8 bulb fixture. I won't do that again. I would recommend 2 plants vegged longer, scrogged. Under each 8 bulb.

Would just like to concur those high-end T5 bulbs are a waste of money. They are really friggin' expensive! Added all up and you'd be close to LED.

What I like to do is veg them out for a grip. Topping and constantly supercropping to maintain an even canopy level, while building up a large as possible root mass and jacking up the nutes before heading into flower.

We ran 2 240watt LED's beside this grow on 2 plants. No comparison. The LEDS were far behind.

What brand LED's? Not all are equal...

But yeah I don't think the technology will reach fruition for another year or two, at least in the horticulture and/or affordability sense.
Blackstar. I agree. Another year or two. LED's need to get to 8-10 watt before i'll jump over to that again.

Some of the dankest T5 buds I've ever seen! Well done!
