Nice. She looks really well fed. lol Very green. I count 5 tops...that is a good number. All 5 should produce nicely. :weed: If you try to get too many tops they tend to all be smaller.

Thank you! yes I'm feeding them Fox farm growbig right now and theyre very green! I'm currently on the 4th-5th week of veg for the two bigger plants right now. When would you guys recommend I start flowering them since I'm limited on space.

In their 4th week of 12/12 now, lst continues but only having to tie down the new branches, the main top has almost stopped stretching and is just filling out its buds

This is my first grow so I don't really know what to expect in each of the stages.. are the buds at each of the nodes going to keep filling up the stems between the nodes until it all joins and becomes a single bud?

What happens if the stem is almost horizontal (like in the 2nd pic, my LST method involves the plants being tied down to the edge of the pot and then going around it). I'm guessing the buds will still grow upwards but the stem is horizontal? so how?

I like to tie my ladies down!
So I'm starting the The Great RIU LST Thread. Where we can all share our techniques for LST (Low Stress Training). Discuss how, why, and perhaps where you have your ladies tied, strapped, tucked, stapled, or otherwise trained!
Wow! I have only just found this thread and having read through the 9 pages so far I see there are some masters of the art of LST here :-)

Heres my modest contribution, Northern Lights LST'd to basically fit the shape of my cabinet! I have just 12" of depth in there so have to train them out sideways.

Day 32 12/12.

This shows my LST method using a simple wooden frame!

SOON!
You've already used almost half your total height and they will at least double in size, so I would recommend you flower soon.

["This is my first grow so I don't really know what to expect in each of the stages.. are the buds at each of the nodes going to keep filling up the stems between the nodes until it all joins and becomes a single bud?"]
More or less, yes.

["What happens if the stem is almost horizontal (like in the 2nd pic, my LST method involves the plants being tied down to the edge of the pot and then going around it). I'm guessing the buds will still grow upwards but the stem is horizontal? so how?"]
Yes they'll grow upward. They will grow against gravity in the direction of the best light. Patience, and you will see.

From the looks of other journals theyre gonna pack on the weight from now on.. anything in particular there is that I can do at this stage (week 4 flowering) for optimum conditions/results.

Molasses. It seems to be pretty popular. I use it as a tea. 1 TBSP pergallon and I oxygenate it with an airstone for a day or so. But you can use it straight up too. It feeds the soil microbes which then work all the harder breaking down organic material into nutrients the plant can use.

I'll be giving this a go, thx for the info +rep

My girls have been flowering for 4 weeks now, buds startin to pack on weight. I've taken all the LST pipe cleaners off to let them grow naturally without stress for their final weeks.

the effect of the LST still shows as the buds are now spread out because of the spiraling shape the stems have from being tied down for so long.

bagseed skunk

seedsman white widow

all 8 girls flowering under a 250w MH (yes not hps) and a supplementary 2700k CFL.

quick lst question... after you switch to 12/12, when do you stop training and just let them grow upward? right away? wait until flowers appear?

i used paper clips and drill holes in the lip of the pot.,.,it lest me raise and lower banches at will.,.,just make a chain outa the clips and bend one to ho0k round the brach ure tryna hold dwn

its hard to c the papaer clips but u can see how low the plant is ect.,.,
sumtime i use coat hanger and bend them as needed and stick em in the dirt and ho0k the plant if ya know wat i mean.,.,basically like showed in the first post of this thread.,.i combine my lst with toping to get desired results

I think most folks are done training by the time they switch to 12/12. But it's totally up to you. You can continue to train well after she starts budding. It depends on your grow space and how your lights are positioned in relation to the plant. Basically just do what you have to to keep as much of your plant a favorable distance from your lights, without running out of headroom of course.
