has that hortilux bulb been used alot you said its 2 years old but has it been used for 2 years straight (perpetual) as the saying goes you get what you pay for i suppose but i have some really good results using sunmaster bulbs both dual spec and straight red but i also think that there is still alot of factors that could influance other plants etc still nice grown up ladies though uk love
Yes it had about 2 years of solid use. Thing is these plants are all on the same tray ebb and flo so the nutes are exactly the same. Both are the same distance from their respective bulb. Both have a fan same distance. No CO2. Switched to bloom at the same exact size and taken from the same mother plant. Every single plant on the Ultra sun side, about 30, look like these pics pretty much. They get happier and healthier as it goes to the Hortilux side of the tray. What really kills me is the Ultr Suns were brand new. Several other trays exhibit the same thing as well.

were the plants an bulbs seperated by a piece of mylar or something hortilux one side an ultra sun on the other as said they were on 4x8 tray or were plants under both bulbs together and switched from side to side sorry if i have missunderstood your setup

No same tray same room. Plants get larger from one side to the next. Light in the middle of the trays the plants are pretty nuetral. The plants I took the pics of were off to the side of each bulb so the other bulbs did not influence them at all. All my other trays had the same thing as well. I was honestly very surprised and a bit upset at the results. Damn glad I caught this or I would have been chasing my tail wondering what was wrong with my setup. I didnt replace all the bulbs thank god. I have all brand new Hortiluxes in there now. 6 pack for $400 shipped is still pretty cheap considering local hydro shop wants $120 a piece !

I'm running Ultra Suns right now. I ordered a hortilux eye and I'm expecting it Wednesday. I was wondering if I blew a lot of money on snake oil. This thread makes me feel a lot better.

Money very well spent my friend. I had 3 Ultra suns running and 3 Hortiluxes. Same results on all of them. Was no fluke. Those bulbs are junk in comparison.

I don't think we can get Hortilux bulbs in the UK. I'm pretty sure I've searched for them in the past.

Good post rep+ It's good to know since that's all I use is Hortilux. The damn 600W is over $100 but worth it!

this confirms what ive always thought im using ultra sun & had nothing to compare it too, as in anything the chinese knockoffs work but seldom measure up to the originals

Light spectrums aren't "snake oil", you can't fake a good light. I fully back this thread and find it crazy that a lot of people don't know what they are even using!

Okay so I remembering reading somewhere a long time ago that alot of people swear by hortilux bulbs and would never use anything else. I have never used anything but and will swear by em too.
However, something I just read, in the latest High Times Master Growers Guide in an article about the latest lighting, that there are new bulbs designed specifically for digital ballasts, and how the all previously manufactured models (which Eye Hortilux falls into this category)ARE NOT designed for digital ballast and burn out early and what not. They proceded to hype SunPulse as innovators in the field w/ the first bulbs designed for the higher frequency of digital ballasts or something like that. I think thats also why like nexgen and lumatek are selling their own bulbs now but hey idk
Until a more definite answer is reached I will continue to put my faith in the wonderful spectrum Eye provides me
also by the way:
plantlightinghydroponics.com has the knockout prices on Eye Hortilux...always down to save a buck
