People around the world are sick of the political and media elite. BREXIT and Farage kicked it off. I pray that Europeans will finally destroy the Soros/USA/NWO EU. F the EU! Italy get out of the EU because Austria is right behind you in leaving.

Trump was hated by the Dems and Republican Party. We are sick of the elites and the endless lies. Bernie people half got it but they let Hillary stick a knife in Bernie's back. People are sick of Clintons, Bushes, Obama, Merkel, EU, Blair, Cameron, Jerry Brown,Soros and all the other puppets for the elites and bankers. .

Tomorrow, December 4, Italy is holding a referendum that will determine the fate of the entire European Union.

Donald Trump’s victory—which shocked Europe’s political and media elite—gives the populists backing the “No” side of Italy’s referendum the political rocket fuel they need for a virtually guaranteed win.

That momentum will be all but impossible to reverse. Anti-elite sentiment is rising on both sides of the Atlantic. And I bet the global populist revolution will continue.

If Italians buck the establishment—and it looks like they will—it will clear a path for a populist party to take power and for Italy to exit the euro.

As an update:
"To summarize, this is what has happened so far in yet another major overthrow of the political status quo:

  1. Italy PM Renzi lost by a huge margin, with the latest estimate somewhere around 59% voting "No" to Renzi's proposed constitutional referendum.
  2. In a speech moments after the results were announced, Renzi confirmed he would hand in his resignation tomorrow.
  3. As Bloomberg notes, the scale of the loss and how quickly it happened cast a huge shadow on the fate of the continent headed into 2017.
  4. The EURUSD has tumbled to the lowest level since March 2015.
"The experience of my government ends here," Renzi said in a televised address to the nation after early voting results suggested his 'Yes' camp may have lost the referendum by as much as 20 points."

Now to see what this will do to the financial markets already in turmoil. ;)

What turmoil? Like Brexit or God-Emperor Trump's victory lap? This will just create an impetus for financial capital to shift around a bit. Nothing we haven't already seen a few times just this year. If anything, it is a good time to reassess one's portfolio and look for stuff that's oversold on a quarterly term hold.

I stay away from money markets usually but a hedge on the euro for the day woulda paid nicely. ;)

Monte Paschi will be a good litmus test for the behavior you note.

Dude, Trump is a minority president. Brexit was very close. The referendum in Italy concerned changing their constitution to centralize power in the presidency. Where on earth do you think that would go over other than Russia and Syria? You are reading too much into some very narrow wins and a loss in a referendum that would have shifted the balance of power in a healthy democracy. The news is showing shifts to the right but to your saying the world is becoming as batshit cray-cray as you is foolish.

The right only knows how to beat people, start wars, enrich the already wealthy and run up debt. Within very few years, this trend to the right will have run its course. Most people value their freedom more than you do.

Jerry Brown has done an outstanding job as governor. As Obama has been as president.

Damn, I hope things turn left in 4 years. I've been watching for it my entire adult life and I haven't seen any evidence of it happening yet. Even the Democrats campaign to the right of the Republicans of my childhood.

In other words, I fear things will go further right/fascist before they turn around. There will have to be a major event that makes it clear we've gone too far and the only one that comes to mind is a war that Americans at home will be casualties of.

Sorry to paint a dark picture, but I'm not seeing a leftist coming along and suddenly it's all Kumbaya and kale chips, you feelin' me?

Get over it; that "fat pig" of yours only got 2% more votes than the Trumpster. Neither one cleared the 50% mark. There was no majority. The only significance of the 2% number is a declaration that there are more "snow flakes", "cup cakes" and "loons" in this country than there are rational and thoughtful folks.

Thank goodness the founding fathers had enough foresight to see this coming.

When it comes time to join in a protest action I'll be there too.

My town's chief of police declared in a press release that the city would not enforce immigration laws. I love this state.
