Transplanting question

Hi guys, I'm first time growing, I started out in 11 Litre = ~3 Gallon plastic pot, my plant is now 5 weeks old and doing very good but I have been reading about how plastic pots can cause root bound issues especially if it's small like mine, so I was thinking about transplanting it in fabric pot now, I just want to know is it safe to transplant when the plant is already 5 weeks in, I am planning to switch to flowering next week. Will it be worth it to transplant in 5 gallon fabric pot? I am growing in fairly small setup with 150W HPS light and 2x2x4 tent.

Thank You

I use 11L plastic pots.

I sometimes use 18L pots.

I grow in coco.

I start with small seed pots, usually transplant to 3L then up to 11L and switch to flowering.

I havent tried fabric pots but I have used air pots before.

I’ve since gone back to plastic pots.

root circling can happen yes.

if you’re in soil and you’re seeing lots of roots at the bottom and when you squeeze the sides of your pots etc then yes transplant.

There's no issue transplanting--do it gently to minimize shock and allow a week for your plant to rebound from the stress of transplanting. There's also no issue using your 11L pot, though fabric and airpots do allow more root density than simple plastic pots, but there's a reason why simple plastic pots are used by commercial nurseries etc.

I used fabric pots for a while and now use airpots. The main advantage is continuous bottom feeding and air-pruning of the roots when they hit the sides. They can let you grow bigger plants in the same size container--e.g., a 5 gal airpot can accommodate the same size plant as say a 7-8 gallon regular pot. But, if you've only got 4' overhead, a bigger plant might not be the best idea. Consider training methods like scrogging in this event.

But again, short answer, no problem finishing in your 11L. I would, however, transplant before flowering.

Vertical space is definitely a concern for me, I think I'll then continue in it's current container. I'm already doing a lot of LST to keep it short will also do scrog with trellis net before switching to flower next week.

How does she look? :)
