I bought one of those 135 watt LED UFO's from ebay as my first LED. It was pretty sturdy, and stayed quiet and cool. Coverage was good for 1-2 plants. The spectrum of the light was a nice mix between blue, red, and white 3 watt LED's. Zprice was around $125 and it performed well. I think UFO's are great starter LED lights.

i have a theory that a roll or two of 5630 SMD 5M strip lighting and a $10 12v ac/dc adapter would do as good as or better than a cheap chinese UFO. That's $20 for 2 x 5M strips and $10 per 12v 7A ac/dc adapter, so $40 if you did two of each. Chronikool has grown with 5050s in the past, I'm doing a 5630 test grow with 50W of light (only about 1/2 of a 5M strip). Bottom line, i haven't proven my theory yet, but I'm pretty sure they'll grow good enough. I have grown under DIY 24X1W panels (like astir) and they work just fine for the money spent.

check this post for Chroni's latest cab with 5630s:

There's even a YT DIY video mounting a string inside a round light reflector

PetFlora I like the price of the ufo. Looking to add to my cfls for summer time cloning and flowering. I'm not ready for the diy leds yet, maybe later on.

No need to convince yourself you can't do it. It's easier than putting together IKEA furniture. In fact, you don't even have to solder anything anymore...

A few weeks ago I was in the same boat, and here I am today with a badass DIY panel of my own.

You'll get a lot more for your money going with COBs than you'd ever hope to with UFOs. I've owned UFOs and they often just result in tons of unwanted stretching.

A 65w Hans panel will blow away any UFO on the market........the remote Chinese driver is easily replaceable if it fails. The price for the leds used is unbeatable IMO.

shit.. they don't grow or flower plants very well. best bet.. hans panel or the new a51 75 watt panel coming out very soon.

type of leds, leds are stacked, maybe... no one seems to have good results, imo not worth $250 for 31 watts of shitty led. You can buy better panels for that cost

from EH himself
im thinking for 295 i would rather buy the hans....thanks for your advice

they are the same quality. both use cree leds. hans also has osram deep red leds... a51 has a better warranty. both will last a while. honestly its a toss up. the hans 65 watt will be $290 with shipping and the 80 watt will be $315 with shipping . all hans panels are sold out til the 28th.. a51 does free shipping.. the a51 price isn't definite. they seem to drop the price shortly after release.. i think getting both would be cool though.
