UVB Diodes

Does anyone have any info on UVB in LEDs?

I went to a cannabis show in Oakland recently and there was a new LED company there that said they had UVB in their lights.

Just curious if anyone has used or tried UVB in their LEDs.

Also, what is the difference between MCOB and COB?

Sorry for the noob questions.

UVB (300 nm) diodes are very expensive to manufacture ,its likely they are UVA .

Wow thanks guod!

That's pretty cool. I guess that is how their light is adjustable, because they are using MCOB instead of COB. And they did say they had UVB and UVA, but I didn't ask the nm. Seemed like a cool light.
They said it was important for it to be adjustable because you dont want to use the UVB all the time, only for last 2 weeks of flower for like an hour. So you could turn the UV off with their app.

Has anyone here had success with UVB?

It is understood that UVB has both positive and negative photomorphogenic effects.
UVB may increase the production of terpenes , terpenoids and flavonoids at the cost of wasted energy in cell reparation and therefore a reduction in growth, or the speed at which growth occurs.

Right, they said you only wanted to use it for a limited amount of time each day(an hour or less) and only in the last two weeks of flower. Do you think that would still hurt yields? I'm not as concerned about yields as I am about THC content, so it seems like a positive to me.

Has anyone on here actually tested UVB on their plants? I would love to see that.

There is a good amount of uvb discussion on riu. A few swear by it and others arent so sure. I would not buy a lamp because it claims that it provides uvb. If i wanted uvb id use one of the t5s that are available in known wattages. Also thst lamp is 4$ per watt, kinda pricey for a product that doesn't specify highest quality components.

I have a diy uvb bar on my diy 3590 panel. Works really well.
