We don't worry too much about our global Anglo culture and language being subsumed, but small countries and cultures do, especially those in Europe. We have it in Quebec too, where the French culture is perceived to be under assault and being absorbed by the continental Anglo language and culture. Then there is the urban rural divide that seems to exist everywhere.

I’m missing the connection between this thread, your post, and the article. ? Good article though.

Pamfilova: the future of Russia depends on the elections of 2024
The presidential elections to be held in 2024 will determine the future of Russia. This was stated by the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova during a meeting with the current head of Russia Vladimir Putin.

“These are not passing [presidential] elections, the future of Russia will depend on them,” said Ella Pamfilova. The meeting was broadcast live on the Russia 24 TV channel. She also noted that in the elections through the remote voting system, about 21 million people will be able to cast their vote.

Russian presidential elections are scheduled for March 17, 2024. The current head of Russia has not yet announced his nomination. This will become known later, said Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, his words are quoted by RT . At the same time, half of the Russians, according to the Association of Russian Researchers, could not offer options for Putin's successor .

Putin creates a pillar of the political system in the Donbass
To simplify the election process for all its participants, the Central Election Commission is improving digital services, Pamfilova noted. In addition, an analogue of the current GAS "Vybory" is being created, which will be ready for the presidential elections (to be held in March 2024). The possibilities of remote electronic voting (DEV) are also expanding. “Over the previous four years, about 5.5 million people used this form of voting, this year it will be potentially 21.5 million. 25 regions have submitted applications,” the head of the CEC said and, answering a question from the president, noted that a group of expert observers for the DEG was being formed.

Putin asked whether there are plans to introduce electronic voting in elections in new regions. So far, such a form has not been provided for there, Pamfilova noted and explained that it is technically difficult to do this in wartime conditions. But residents of the new regions will be able to vote both at home and in extraterritorial areas - in other settlements and even regions.

According to Pamfilova, the heads of regions have applied to the CEC of the Russian Federation with the initiative to hold direct elections. “We held all the necessary consultations with the FSB, with the Ministry of Defense, weighed all the pros and cons, all the pros and cons, and took on such a responsibility to support their initiative and desire to hold elections,” the head of the Central Election Commission said.

All issues of ensuring the security of voting are being worked out, but, Pamfilova assured, “if circumstances of unforeseen force arise, if there is a danger to life and health of people, we have the right to postpone the elections in one or another district.”

A variety of situations are being worked out, the head of the CEC noted. For example, cases of loss of passports. “Now it is possible to present not only a passport, but also another identity document issued by public authorities,” Pamfilova said.

The President asked if any help was needed to prepare the vote in new regions, and in the whole country. “Funding is allocated on time for work, for equipment?” — said Putin. Pamfilova assured: the money is allocated in full.

Holding elections in new regions is one of the points of legitimizing the decisions on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia after the 2022 referendums. And this is important for Putin, Ilya Grashchenkov, director general of the Center for Regional Policy Development, explained to URA.Ru. “Power always relies on the fact that it is elected by the people. Elections are the cornerstone of the legitimacy of governance. If this stone is removed from the foundation of statehood, the question arises who are these people who make fateful decisions.

European unity could be at risk with ultra-nationalists and other assholes thrown up by such politics, one just needs to look at Trump or Orban to see the risks.

Zelensky urged in Crimea to moderate appetites for the peninsula
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should moderate his appetite for Crimea. This was stated by the head of the Committee on Legislation of the Crimean Parliament Sergei Trofimov.

“All Zelensky’s appetites for Crimea are groundless. All that Zelensky can count on and claim is a donut hole or a dead donkey’s ears,” Trofimov said, RIA Novosti writes. He noted that the Crimean peninsula has always been part of the Russian Federation and has not been legally separated from the country. In this regard, Trofimov believes, Crimea will be Russian.

Earlier, Zelensky repeatedly spoke about Kyiv's desire to return Crimea to Ukraine. He stated that the conflict with the Russian Federation would continue until Russia gave up Crimea. Also, the Ukrainian leader reported that he would agree to negotiations with Russia when it comes to the return of the peninsula.

Kadyrov spoke about the escape of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the destruction of their positions in Naumovka
Fighters from the Chechen Republic destroyed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the settlement of defense Naumovka, after which the opponents fled. This was told by the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.

“The Ukronat bandits, who had settled in fortified positions in the village of Naumovka, hoped to defend this area, and in the future to advance even further. However, plans changed dramatically after several accurate hits of large-caliber shells. As often happens, sensing danger, the enemy fled, wrote on Telegram the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. He added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine left behind several grenade launchers, cartridges and other weapons, which will henceforth successfully serve in the interests of the Chechen units.

Earlier, Kadyrov spoke about the heavy losses of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the entire front line. He noted that the Ukrainian fighters built an entire underground city for combat operations, but the Russian special forces successfully knocked out the Ukrainian fighters from impregnable positions. The head of Chechnya also offered to send his fighters to fight the terrorists who attacked the Belgorod region.

MWM: Iskander's strike on the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed the critical vulnerability of Ukraine
The strikes with Iskander missiles (a family of Russian operational-tactical missile systems - approx. URA.RU) on the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the Antonovsky Bridge showed a serious vulnerability of the army. Journalists of Military Watch Magazine write about it.

“One of the most notable was the Iskander-M ballistic missile attack, which was made public on June 30. The 30 destroyed military men were a special target, ”- says in the publication.

Russia is attacking the Armed Forces of Ukraine with missiles in three directions: Lisichansk, Soledar-Artemovsk and Aleksandr-Kalinovsk. So, for example, recently a point of the 53rd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was destroyed near the settlement of Predtechino. The captain of the first rank of the reserve, Vasily Dandykin, suggested that Ukraine would launch the second stage of the counteroffensive with a nuclear provocation. Renat Karchaa, adviser to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern, believes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing a terrorist attack at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

The security forces took up the case of the derailment of tanks with aviation fuel from the railway tracks in Yekaterinburg. Photo

This was reported in the press service of the Central Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the TFR.

“An investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia is working at the place of the gathering. An inspection of the scene of the incident and a number of verification measures are being carried out, during which the causes and circumstances of the incident are being clarified, ”the press service of the department said.

In addition, the deputy of the Sverdlovsk transport prosecutor left for the scene. The transport prosecutor's office is conducting an audit, during which it will assess the actions of railway workers.

On the Eastern frontlines, the number of Russian troops is over 180,000 people - Spokesperson for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Cherevatyi.

"There (on Lyman-Kupiansk direction) a rather powerful group has been gathered - over 120,000 enemy troops...in all our area - over 180,000 Russian soldiers. On Bakhmut [direction] - around 50,000" he said.

We are fighting against a powerful and dangerous enemy with limited resources and no aviation superiority. And yet Ukrainian Defenders still manage to liberate Ukrainian territory. Glory to Heroes!

To amplify on DIY’s response, such a realignment would certainly affect European materiel and training support for Ukraine.

It may also greatly increase the risk of war in more westerly portions of the continent.
I’ve pointed out most of the situations in the article he linked to myself several times, I don’t disagree there is a danger, of course, but we’re still a very very long way from letting it affect support for Ukraine. One example from that article, Giorgia Meloni “former fascist” is a major Ukraine supporter, when it comes to military aid as well as EU membership. Another example, Poland, isn’t going to drop support against Russia either. The fact the especially in east germany popular AfD overlaps with neonazis and pro-russia far right I covered too, and won’t affect Germany’s support for EU unity or Ukraine anytime soon either. The political situation in Sweden won’t affect it either. The BBB (new farmers party in NL) mentioned as well in that article (odd duck, we have actual far right parties that fit the list) is also very much pro Ukraine support and EU membership.

Anyway, I just thought maybe wrong thread and wrong link. Reading the post I expected an article about linguistic and cultural minorities in Europe.

The Ukrainians need to specifically target chechen units, and wipe them out to a man...katey-rov has to learn some humility.

And Russia has too much people, wishing to take part in the war. I personally know a lot men, who are in Ukraina right now. And the others, taking a part in the conflict, from the opposite side, they also have some salary.
