"The Russian invasion of Ukraine was a war crime, although one that was provoked by NATO expansion and by U.S. backing of the 2014 "Maidan" coup, which ousted democratically elected Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. Yanukovych wanted economic integration with the EU, but not at the expense of economic and political ties with Russia. The war will only be solved through negotiations that allow ethnic Russians in Ukraine to have autonomy and Moscow's protection, as well as Ukrainian neutrality, which means the country cannot join NATO. The longer these negotiations are delayed the more Ukrainians will suffer and die. Their cities and infrastructure will continue to be pounded into rubble."

Yanukovych said he wants integration with Europe until he gets elected and then he backtracked, no way was he going to let the people diminish Russia's control of Ukraine. The people of Ukraine revolted. Then once the dust settle Ukraine had a Free And Fair election. There was no war in Ukraine until Russia, who amassed 100,00 troops along the border but said they will not invade, invaded.

So stuff your, "It is Ukraine and Nato's fault".

"one that was provoked by NATO expansion."
Horseshit. If that's true, what provoked them to invade Crimea in 2014? This war was started by putin.

" But this proxy war in Ukraine is designed to serve U.S. interests. It enriches the weapons manufacturers, weakens the Russian military and isolates Russia from Europe. What happens to Ukraine is irrelevant."
More Horseshit. We didn't design this war, putin did. Those results do happen, but they happen to russia because russia tried to steal an entire fucking country, after getting a nibble in 2014. And Ukraine still seems pretty relevant in the world news to me.

""First, equipping our friends on the front lines to defend themselves is a far cheaper way — in both dollars and American lives — to degrade Russia's ability to threaten the United States," admitted Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell."
And that makes America criminally culpable how, exactly? Again, russia started the war, all consequences are self inflicted.
I don't want to take up a whole page refuting this pile of shit line for line....but i could.

Where is Yanukovych now, in Russia or fighting for Ukraine?

Yanukovych
https://www.britannica.com/biography/Viktor-Yanukovych

"Beginning in May 2017, Yanukovych was tried in absentia for high treason and abetting Russian aggression against Ukraine. The trial included testimony from several senior Ukrainian officials, including Pres. Petro Poroshenko, and Yanukovych’s lawyers attempted to characterize the prosecution as a politically motivated stunt by Poroshenko’s administration. Poroshenko, in turn, painted Yanukovych as an instigator of “Russia’s hybrid war against Ukraine.” In January 2019 Yanukovych was found guilty of high treason and was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Yanukovych’s attorneys appealed the decision, although Yanukovych’s continued exile in Russia meant that it was extremely unlikely that Ukrainian authorities would have the opportunity to carry out the sentence."

This is the tender spot where Ukraine will force Vlad to use the last of his reserves and hit them somewhere else when they are weak enough and starved for supplies and ammo with morale at rock bottom. Meanwhile they are shaving off large areas of the front and demining them under the cover of their own longer-range artillery, drones and counterbattery radars. The deeper they go into the defenses the fewer the mines, but the denser the Russian troops, most of the defenses are machine dug trenches that are sparsely manned. The Russians are becoming depleted in ammo and supplies with the Ukrainians hitting their ammo and logistics hubs far behind the lines and when they become weak enough... They can't keep large numbers of troops in defenses if they can't feed or water them, much less supply them with ammo or other essentials, even if they had them.

I'm not sure what to think about this. On the one hand, fuck russia. On the other hand, Zelensky has been pretty honest and honorable to this point, and made a deal to get those men out alive. If he breaks that deal, the russians will NEVER offer it's like, again.
This may have doomed some Ukrainian p.o.w.s in russian custody now.
The Russians are holding the Ukrainians to trade for a peace deal at the end of the war. These five Russia wanted to hang. I am surprised Turkey let them go. This sends a signal to Russia Turkey now sees Ukraine as having the winning hand.

Medvedev threatens to attack nuclear facilities in Ukraine and Europe, following unconfirmed reports of attempted missile strike on Russian nuclear plant
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, threatened to attack Ukraine’s nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities in Eastern Europe in a post on his Telegram channel.

In his post, he refers to unconfirmed reports from the Telegram channel Mash that Ukraine’s Armed Forces allegedly tried to attack Russia’s Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant and a military air base in the Kaluga region using either 5В28 or British Storm Shadow missiles. The post claims that air defense systems shot down the missiles.

Authorities in the Smolensk and Kaluga regions did not report any incidents on July 9. The governor of neighbouring Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that two missiles launched by Ukraine’s Armed Forces were shot down over the region, one of which fell in the village of Bytosh.

In his post, Medvedev wrote: “If the attempted NATO missile attack on Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant is confirmed, then it is necessary to consider the scenario of a Russian strike on the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant, Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, and Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, as well as nuclear facilities in Eastern Europe […]”

Attack on Smolensk NPP may be retaliated by strike on nuke facilities in Europe – Medvedev
Russia may hit nuclear facilities in Eastern Europe if an attempted attack on the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant with NATO missiles is confirmed, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on Sunday.

"If an attempted attack on the Smolensk (Desnogorsk) NPP with NATO missiles is confirmed, it will be necessary to look at a scenario of Russia’s simultaneous strike on the South Ukraine NPP, Rovno NPP, and Khmelnitsky NPP, and on nuclear facilities in Eastern Europe. There is nothing to be embarrassed about," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to posts on several Telegram channel earlier on Sunday, Ukrainian troops tried to stage a missile attack on the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant.

The nuclear plant, a subsidiary of Rosenergoatom nuclear power engineering company, is located three kilometers from the city of Desnogorsk in the Smolensk Region and some 150 kilometers from the city of Smolensk.

The nuclear plant said on its Telegram channel that its two power units are operating routinely, while the third unit is under scheduled repairs.

this all sounds like a load of horseshit to me, Ukraine knows that would be looked upon very unfavorably by NATO. I don't see them throwing all that good will away on something like this.

"Shatalovo is an air base in Pochinok, Pochinkovsky District, Smolensk Oblast of the Russian Aerospace Forces as part of the 6th Air and Air Defence Forces Army, Western Military District.

The base is also known as Pochinok, Satalovo, and Shatoalovo. It is a large hardened air base with pads for 19 bombers and 15 fighters in addition to a small amount of tarmac space. It is a nuclear bomber base (Su-24) according to a Natural Resources Defense Council study. During the 1980s it was one of 17 airfields hosting the Soviet Union's tactical reconnaissance aircraft regiments.[1] The normal complement at the air base in 1984 consisted of 9 to 13 each of the Sukhoi Su-24M and Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25R, and 3 to 5 Yakovlev Yak-28R, the latter of which was being phased out.[1]"

Seems there is a military air base in the area.

"The enemy continues to actively conduct aerial reconnaissance of operational areas and
directions, using six Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft from the Shatalovo and Marinovka
airfields, and two Su-34 aircraft with universal reconnaissance containers from the Lipetsk
airfield, concentrating reconnaissance efforts in the northeastern part of Kharkiv and
Luhansk Oblast and the south of Ukraine."
