Wattage=Weed

Someone answered my post saying wattage equals weed. That I could only produce 6 to 8 oz of weed per harvest with a 400 watt HPS, whether I had 10 plants or 2 plants. And I should veg more plants for less time, instead of a few plants for 4 months.

I always heard the longer you veg. the more potent the green. I wanted people to weigh in on this before I change the way I grow.

Wattage does equal weed or buds.What you were told was part right but not really. A 400 watt light will give you basically a max 4x4 foot coverage area with a max grow light area of 3x 3 feet.With these smaller 400 watt lights you dont have to go big unless your gonna grow 1 or 2 plants as they dont penetrate to deep into the foliage meaning the side and lower branches dont get light which wont give good buds.With smaller 400 watt lights if using just 1 its better to veg plants short and grow a few using techniques like lollipoping ,LST, and super cropping sog style.You can grow 9-12 plants in 3 gallon pots under a 400 watt light vegging to about 10-14 inches tall then use the techniques stated above.If you lollipop you can get roughly 2 oz dry per plant maybe more maybe less depending on your expirence and knowledge.So that would me 12 plants roughly 24 dry oz.Longer veg doesnt always play any real factor in sog type grows but will it you concentrate one 1 or 2 larger plants with side lighting. There is a sort of formula which some same which states at perfection .5 gram per watt per plant.So 200grams for a plant with 2 square meters of growing area under a 400 watt light.Thats the basis I have gone by and have used in determing what I grow in soil.Hydro and aero vary slightly.

FF is right for a 400w SOG is the way to go, I use the same light as you, atm I have 8 small plants, unknown gender. After I find all my males, I clone the females to replace the males I lost. So viola start with 8 plants and end with 8 plants. The problem with having only 2 or 3 plants is that during veg, there's so much wasted floorspace and in flower, there's no space at all because of the mass of foliage.. SOG stays at just around the right height, and for the amount of time and space you spend it's well worth it in the end.

I Find 4 Plants Vegged, For 4weeks Even Seem Too Big When Flowered, The Tops Seem Ok , But There Seems To Be Lots Of Small Buds Under The Top Of The Plants, Unformed/small. When Under 400hps, Thanks For The Above Advice, I Shall Use The Info, In My Next Grow Under The 400.thanks

You should be able to get more than 6-8 ounces from a 400 watt bulb... unless you are only growing 1 plant...

9 plants vegged for 16 days (4-5 nodes) after germination, kept healthy, with a GOOD HEAVY strain should yield at least 1-3 ounces per plant...

This will at least equal 3 GREAT plants in 2-3 weeks less time...

The keys are a

- GREAT indica strain,
- that does not grow tall,
- keeping the plants healthy
- good ventilation
- close light proximity to foliage (less than 12 inches)
- pH your water
- good soil

Never heard of that strain. These are Blue Berry and Sweet purples.14 days veg and day 1 of 12/12.I used a 400 watt mh and now a 600 watt hps for veg in 3 gallon pots.Gonna be using co2 tank injection for these
