What LED is the best value in terms of cost/yield/service life?

Oh man that's harsh.
So what if he bought an inefficient, mislabeled light, it gave him results he was happy with, job done.
I don't think he was bragging about his yield, why would you when it's half a gram/w?
I don't mean to sound harsh I'm just sick of all these 1000W false-advertising cheap crap lights.

This forum used to be a proper solid community full of tech-heads and innovators, nowadays seems to be full of Chinese merchandise and their minions peddling their wares, The problem is these guys cannot innovate, they only know how to copy, steal IP, and sell cheap junk. What will happen when all the innovators are gone?

We need to support the innovators and say no to the copycat thieves, or at least that's my take on things, I don't know about you?

Yeah I totally agree, but I had no idea what your personality is like so I was approximating it off that one comment. Which is why I only said stuff that couldn't offend you.
Now I know that you're actually just pissed at the light manufacturers, I feel like your comment was simply misdirected.
All he's guilty of, is being ignorant (like we all can be at times), which isn't really malicious, like the behaviour of said companies.
That's why I still think your comment was too harsh, because it looks like you were blaming him for something someone else did. Sure he should be more mindful of where his money is going, but I think it would have been way more constructive of you to try educate him instead of, well, that.

i don't know where you live, if you can do business with DIGIKEY....fuck everyone else....they have the top quality parts, at good prices, and are an established, trusted company. if you have a problem, they'll try to fix it, not redirect you to a Portuguese third party rep who will take your information then line their canaries cage with the form...and they'll have pages of suitable cobs to use as replacements for the chinese paper weights you just got

I hear you:peace:

Tbh, it is hard to tell whose who in here anymore, as this place seems to have become overrun by underhanded manufacturers and their agents touting for business if he's legit then my sincere apologies.

I guess I am just pissed as this used to be an innovative place to hang out, learn, and share knowledge. It was a proper community, now after coming back from a bit of a hiatus, I see most of the Tech-heads have gone, and instead, they have been replaced with "let's see who has got the Cheapest product" whilst Community Spirit and innovation falls by the wayside.

This is the downside to cheap this cheap that and the eventual race to the bottom :(

Hmm yeah since I wrote that reply I have been noticing more and more of this attitude you describe, quite frankly it makes me very disheartened with the way the world is heading too. I'm probably just naive as I'm such a hermit these days, and very new to this forum, and forums altogether.
I never use social media because I have a bad feeling about it perpetuating this demise but I can't put my finger on how it's happening.
Anyway I'm getting way off topic so I'll leave it there. Cheers Johnny have a good one buddy.

I'm looking for a good source of deep and far-red strips again. It is fine (better)if they are on separate strips.
I'd like to start throwing it in as an upgrade option

Like this?

I think those have the cree xqe which is far from great, you generally want leds with 3.5mm footprint and i think these are 1.6. i might be wrong, also there are other cutter offerings: they have one foot, 2 channels, 12 leds strips now. I was watching some uv/far red +ir 850nm the other day...

Oh cool thanks for letting me know, I just remembered seeing the link in this thread the other day and thought I'd pass it on..
Hey can you tell me what kind of reds I'd be after to add to some 3500K EB2's on some cookie sheets? I only have 10 x 1' strips and drive them up to 150w sometimes which I know is dumb but I'm too lazy and poor to order more and they're cooled really well so they never get above 50c..
Tell me should I just get another 10 strips so I can run them at the normal 350ma for the extra lifetime and efficiency or is it not really worth it?
Also would it be better to add extra reds or just put lots more 3500K strips in? I was gonna get a few XPE's or something on starboards from digikey but they're like 10 bucks each, I could get 2 more strips for the price of 1 red diode..

I would hope the light add some more uv 410nm and ir 730nm diode, so far my light only with one uv and 2 ir there , but it still expensive somehow. I do hope the supplier make more better light to help my strains growing and flowering.

I recommend the Amare Bar-8.
Incorporating the newest tech into each model, upgrading existing models when sensible.
Basically, they have always provided the spectrum or nm's all the "Higher Selling" companies are now learning to adapt through trial & error or customer demand.
They also have the UVL model coming out in the next 2 months. The current models are the Canna-Spec, the Solar-Spec-C & HE Models.
2.6-2.9 umol/j on a dimmer with remote MW drivers x4 in a nice case.
20191209_092753.jpg20191123_115954.jpg20191121_230558.jpg1000w SE barely matches the ppfd of the Bar-8 using only 660w @ 4' away. Lol! But you can still grow close proximity w/o being 1600 umols, or to much.Screenshot_20191116-002226_Yahoo Mail.jpg20191115_042035.jpgFully Diverse by sliding, detachable, pivoting, high Thermal mngmt passive heatsink bars w/ Gasgeted, high visibility Glass. Not fading acrylic, plastic or silicone. Also has x3 rows of diodes per bar spreading the light as even as possible as well as blending @ 6" NP.20190330_203604.jpg1.5 Month veg 20190225_204631.jpgfrom these cuppie puppies on Jan 6th.
20190106_211620.jpgFeb,16th. I think there's 6 here out of the x12. 450w 7.5'x4.5'. 20190216_144044.jpg
Thats using the Canna-Spec, full cycle spectrum.
So far I've hit 2 gpw, broke all my own records with it & continue to get better each run. The highest bag appeal I've ever seen from any LEDs.
900w capable allows me to cover a 6x5 in flower with a 800+ ppfd, hanging each set of x2 bars 16" on center, sliding the bars 8-9" on center, covering 6'x5'.
Direct, you could get a Bar-4 or 6 with a Bar-8 to fill your area w/o to much overkill & keep you w/i budget.
PM me if you'd like direct contact info.
Happy to help.
The Bar-8 is UL-880 Cert.
The highest Certification available for led grow lights. I dont know who else has it that i am aware of.
They lack advertising but are almost done with the new web-site. It will be descriptive.
Hope that helps!

I'm pretty confident, that if there's happens to be a legalization movement in china, there will also be Innovation. I just have no clue about cannabis culture in china..anyone else?
