Will the police come?

Hey guys in a bit of a situation here. About a month ago we suspected a break in because a iPod seemed to be misplaced but we thought no big deal it could have been misplaced. Yesterday my mom noticed a silver coin in the corner of my grow room. She then called my grandma to find out she had a safety box under the bed with $1000 in silver coins or something that is now missing.

If we report the stolen coins will the police want to come look around the house? I live in Canada btw.

How did the coin get in the grow room? seems a pretty odd place for it to be. Did it fall out of your pocket? :p

Seems a daft question in a way. You report a robbery because you want the police to solve it, if you want them to solve it, it would seem like common sense that they'd look around the house. But you must surely be aware that when you tell the police that your regularly used property might have been robbed over a month ago, they're most likely going to say nothing we can do about it this far along.

Oh, and if they took the box, it's because they couldn't open it to get the coins out and walk off with those. so why would they take the coins out of the box, dropping one into your grow room in the process, and also proceed to take an empty security box?

Something is fishy.

I should have given more information. I don't really have a grow room my grow tent sits in the middle of a spare bedroom. My mom knows about the grow my grandma does not. I'm not sure if the safe box was left or taken i just assumed it was taken but u make a valid point. I just got a few details over a phone call so I diddnt get all the details.

I live with my dad so I just go to my moms house to take care of the plants.

Forgot to mention the grow tent wasn't set up at the time of the break in so the robbers have no idea about that.

The thing that puzzles me is no one in my family other than my grandma knew the safe was in the house. I have a hard time believing just some randoms broke in and managed to find it.

How dopes it get into a grow tent? I could maybe understand a grow room, kicked under a door etc. But grow tents have large lips. It would have to be taken in and dropped. I still think there is something going on here beyond someone simply breaking in.

It wasn't in the grow tent. It was in the corner of the bedroom that the grow tent sits in.

We realize its too late for the police to come look for clues we just want to report the stolen coins incase they turn up somewhere.

I diddnt think the police would want to look at the house but I don't want to chance it either. My plants are only about a week old so it's not much to clean up at this point.

Grandma is 65 or so. Still in good shape but we are sure it's a break in. At first we called my mom crazy when she thought someone just stole a iPod nano but $1000 in silver is alot to go missing.

I wondered the same thing, because this scenario does not make sense. She might be figuring out how to make a phone call on your iPod as well.

The only fishy part about this is how the theives found the safety box.

First and foremost you shouldn't grow in anyones house other than your own,but if you have consent...

One reason is that if a fire broke out and the FD and PD show up and find an illegal grow, said owners of the house face more problems than you do,especially if you are a minor.

1) They can have the house and all assets siezed.

2) if you are a minor they will cop a contributing to a minor.

This^. Since you are allready in this situation and the plants are only a week old trash em let the cops do what they will and start over..in your own place.

IF your correct and theives have been in. Then your grow has been compromised. The only reason they never took it will be because your plants aint worth robbing, YET! you can almost guarantee that if you have been robbed they WILL be back just in time for your harvest, you can bet your ass on that

I mentioned above that the grow tent wasn't set up or any of my equipment in the house for that matter at the time of the break in. It was on Christmas Day while we were out of the house for family stuff.

Also I am not a minor and I do have consent. I decided to get a grow tent for the very reason that it could be down in 30 minutes if need be.

This is my first grow I might mention aswell so it's not like we have a history to worry about.
