So I was out looking at my hempy. Still tripping on this plant, not many trichomes and very little odor. I see her calyxs swelling and I'm like ok it's all good. Wait... Is that a seed? Yes it is! So I look on my older plants in soil and spot this little cock sucker. Lol nothing new to me but I'm done growing perpetual for this very reason.

A little help please!!!!!

Does anyone know the name of that newer hydroponic medium that is suppose to be all the rage in Europe? I saw a thread about it and thought I bookmarked it but it's gone :(

Please help!!!

I'm trying to move away from perpetual just because I want all my plants the same height. It will also help me dial in the feed for different stages of flower, up till now its been more or less the same for small plants and big plants.

on another note ... this Royal Cheese has some crazy foxtailing, I suspect its genetic but I'm doing everything I can think of to prevent or minimise it on my current run. The smell is fruity and the taste is menthol with earthy/musky flavors and with a 'cheese' undertone. .... I must have placed my current run into Hempys with longer roots because they are 50% larger than this 'tester'. ... If the next lot foxtails this bad then I'm done with this strain, however nice it is.

Chaka, are these from your own breeding or did you pop some breeder beans?

Thankfully my GDP has no foxtail genetics. Just round hard nugs :weed: It also has the good manners to not keep stretching. I'm super pleased I got this strain, it goes into my list of 'low height' strains along with Violator Kush.

atm ... I have 6 GDP @ 3Weeks 12/12. ... can't wait to put in another 60 in a few days.

Supchaka are u using the dish under ur smart pots as the rez? If so make sure u flush once in a while. I used to run a set up similar to this and if u dont flush u end up with alot of salt build up in your medium as the run off doesnt drain out of the dish as it would in a bucket but instead gets soaked back up. If u do flush periodically u will be fine.

Moebius, I would definitely recommend picking up some Querkle. It's a TGA indica dom that is slower to veg (thanks to the urkle) and stretch is minimal. Has some purple in the flowers too :) However, you could end up with a space queen dom pheno that would grow past your light requirements.

Edit:

Beautiful plant though!!! YUM!

They are from my own crossing with the first generation dog kush that has a tendency to throw a flower out like that. Not much of an issue unless you have perpetual going.

Thanks!!! Mapito, that was it!!!! What did people decide on it? Yay, or nay?
Mapito is a 'thumbs-up' from me.

Clean, airy, cheap, hardly breaks down, doesn't go everywhere if it spilts. If its available locally, I recommend giving it a try.

Really I should stick with what I have and dial it in but ....... I can't help myself so next promo I'll budget myself to 2 strains. I'm seriously looking at 'Purple-wreck' ... I've seen a couple of thread where it looks good.

I'm also considering a Lemon strain, possibly DNA's Lemon Skunk .... not long to make my mind up. :weed:

There is some stretch on the lemon skunk since its more sativa dom. The purple wreck is a devastator. Everyone I've known that's grown it still has it in their garden.

Here is a thread where I posted results of my mapito hempy grow (easier than searching back through WOH). There's several versions of this going around...my grow was with the rockwool chunks and Polyurethane couch foam chunks (Mapito USA in Oregon was the manufacturer). I have another brand from mapitogrowmedium.com that I'll be running soon...lots more foam to it and the rockwool is "wooly". Another version is rockwool and coco chunks...I think Moebius is using that with ample success.

Moe, I have to ask, I was introduced to foxtailing as a "good" thing when it first happened to me. But I see more and more comments here on RIU about it being a negative aspect. Could you explain why it is unwanted and maybe the cause of it? My last grow saw some huge divisions in the upper cola on one...and it was my prime selection while curing (like, yeah this is the one I'm smokin first).
Thanks hempy brother!

I've grown foxtail strains before, I got nothing against them. Still smoked, smelled and tasted great. Sour diesel is probably the most known foxtailer and I sure wouldn't kick it out of my bed.
