World Of Hempy

Hello
I would like to ask questions about nutes

I can only have access to the below nutes
1) Maxibloom / Floranova Grow+Bloom
2) Jack's 20-20-20 for grow and 10-30-20 for flower
3) Dyna-gro foliage pro

Anybody have used all three? I've seen threads comparing Maxibloom vs. Foliage Pro and the writer ditched FP for Maxibloom because FP plants were growing at a MUCH slower pace. Please help me choose!
foliage pro needs more Mg but works well start to finish
maxibloom and floranova bloom are great, nothing needed
only used the Jack's RO and Tap formulas which need nothing

Jacks 20-20-20 and 10-30-20 would be lacking Calcium for use in Hempy
Dyna-Gro always seems to have mixed reviews when you talk to people off of the internet and the label vs Price doesn't seem to add up.
Flora Nova Grow/Bloom is a guaranteed success as well as the Maxi Series. You must consider if the biofilm the Flora Nova will leave is something you are willing to deal with. The Humic's and whatever else is in there that they won't disclose will stain your roots/media and leave a film on your buckets. That aside, the growth is fantastic :peace:
Thank you for the response. Helped a lot. Seems like Maxibloom is the way to go !

Ive been running Hempy buckets with Lucas Formula nutes for 12 years now and in all that time I never had a problem. But I am about to do a side by side experiment using the Masterblend 3 part nutrients. I will grow a couple clones using only Masterblend right next to my Lucas Formula hempy's. Then I will press the flower into rosin for both the Masterblend grown and the Lucas grown. Whichever one gives more Rosin is the nutes I am going to continue running.

The title of that Defol Link is pretty misleading...It was written yrs ago but the technique is the same....as you can see, its saying its for advanced growers only...NOT SO....
They were afraid someone might cut every pc of green matter out of their garden....The world is full of ppl without a lot of common sence....I always use a rule about the leaf PETIOLE (Leaf stem)...If you can get your fingers on the petiole, it can be removed during your defol session....
It leaves plenty of green on them....It allows a LOT of tops up in your canopy, and lets light down in far enuf for jar worthy secondary nugs...Check it out sometime..You seem VERY READY for techniques that will WAY UP your yields...SHIT, maybe you already use defol techniques...If so, share your experience and maybe some full bloom pics if you have some...I NEVER get bored talking shop..LOL....pic is from last Hempy crop...current one is 5 weeks into flower....YTView attachment 5108546
So when and how often do you DEFO?

I have been playing with the HydroBuddy nutrient calculator and came up with a mix using Masterblend which has similar elemental results to Lucas Formula. The normal ratio they recommend is 2.4g of Masterblend with 2.4g of Calcium Nitrate and 1.2g of Magnesium Sulfate per gallon of water. But if you up it to 2.5g of all three you end up with something pretty close to Lucas.

Lucas vs Masterblend.png

The old Angelfire page for Lucas Formula also has an Elemental Calculator and the numbers for both the Angelfire page and HydroBuddy seem to match up.

Never tried pure perlite but I do bottom perlite Coco top. Definitely crazy growth once roots hit the tank. You can honestly run any hempy bucket at 1.2EC start to finish. I use a "grow" nute to the end...so easy.

I tried a 100% perlite hempy before and you get alot more roots in the bottom of the pot. Usually I mix my perlite with vermiculite or you can use coco. When you do that you have a larger root zone that the roots will grow in.

I get a usually a solid block of roots. Waiting for a good 6oz root ball before transplanting seems to help it reach outward to the sides of the pot. Early in the grow i can find roots at the sides of the pot near the surface. It's wall to wall roots when I do post mortems. Interesting though....do you start in a different pot, then transplant?

I do. Been 5-6 years till my previous run, recently started again in different space, still dialing in, and probably won't be a good example run by any means. But, I have done many hempy perlite only runs in various size containers with great results. Well, sometimes a bottom and top layer with clay balls. Started doing that at some point to keep the perlite from flushing out with run off.

Original haze (was still small here)

The container size and shape depends a lot on the number of plants I had and whatever I had available at the time. I've been saving up 2L milk jugs now...

Just A+B, rarely adjusted ph, and some algae never bothered me or the plants enough to fully prevent it with peroxide. I do usually cover the top, or roll some duct tape around transparent bottles, the above was pushing it with a spare plant. During soil grows I sometimes still had a couple of 1.5 or 2L bottles, grow single cola small plants to fill gaps in my space and have some variation in my stash.

For people using Maxibloom KISS with hempy buckets, do you go full strength from seedling stage right after the first set of leaves? There's no feeding schedule anywhere and everyone just says "work up towards 7g/gal" but I don't know where to start. Should I start at 1/4 strength?

not familiar with those nutes, but i use a method i think applies to all. i base everythign on ppm, start low and adjust upward until i hit a threshold. i have never been able to use full strength nutes.

Back @ it.
4x Granddaddy Purple x Bruce Banner cross from Expert seeds. Running 100% perlite 3.5gal auto feed/drain buckets, Jack's 3-2-1 and Calimagic in a 4x4. 6" ac infinity exhaust.

It's about to get lit in here!!!
No, really.

I'm replacing my off brand Amazon Lm281b boards with the Medic Grow Fold 8.
I'll be monitoring with a Phantom Photobio par meter.
The light is in transit now but should be up and running with a new journal started by next weekend if anyone is interested in watching me fry these gals with a new light :)

Wait a minute. You mean those old schoolers who use vermiculite and perlite have a name? When I started it was either rockwool, pea gravel, or this.

How did your experiment go? Interested because masterblend is way cheaper than doing lucas where I live.

So. We few, we hempy few . . .

I'm having real good luck with this and I'm only using 18-20oz. solo cups. Since they're red, I thought about a country western song and called it redneck:

I'm even having really good luck with cloning with this as well.

Regarding the "hempy few"..... Why is that? If it's so easy as just adding nutes till runoff. Of course all the rest involved in a successful grow.
Asking about the negatives of this method I guess. Can't really find any.
Planing my second grow and this thread has had me reading until my eyes bleed. (lost my place so many times, rabbit hole central)
1st grow is organic and thinking with my ADHD, Ph and ppm will be easier..... And I've always wanted an air stone :hump:

one negative is that it requires a lot of attention, compared to dirt. You either have to set up and maintain something like blumats, or hand water at least once a day. Makes it hard to get away on the spur of the moment.
