A week later on March 14th You can see the dirt gsc on the bottom left and the soil on the bottom right....It took a little bit for the roots to hit the water...so the plant was still pretty far behind...View attachment 4882459

March 8 days later 22nd the first day I turned the lights on after 48 hours of darkness and you can clearly see increased root growth View attachment 4882463 and increased leaf mass for the hydro but it is still way behind

Your water level in hydro looked too high to the net pot for one. Hydro is touchy so if you can't hone it in you won't get great results even if you succeed to harvest.20210429_193443_02.jpg20210429_193536.jpg

Your roots in Hydro should look something more like this..

That’s not exactly ya average home growers setup, more a commercial setup.

Bit like comparing go karting to formula one.
Just a medical caregiver for a few patients, but I did copy the design from the large commercial growers. And yeah I’m usually helpful but his attitude makes it hard.

Can I be part of the club yet?
They look good, gsc

It a very nice setup, good luck to the op if he has a shit attitude, people with a lack of respect usually don’t get very far in life only my observation don’t have to be Einstein to figure that one out.

Naw, You right mine SHOULD look like that....but I assure you my roots are completely healthy they are stained from the solution....I vegged this hoe for only 8 days before flower....because it took 8 days for the roots to hit the water....She was so far behind her sister but then she blew up....20210503_074420.jpg
I didn't know what I was doing so I started in hydro and them I had to restart in hydro, because I kept my water-level too high....I've been good with the water level the 2nd time around...and the 3rd time! Well baby mines gone look like yours!!! But you got some beautiful shit right there.....those are my future goals!

Not bad for 300w. Good first grow I'd say.
Thank you for the kind words....I got into it because dude kept comparing his full grown plants to my baby personal first time grow, and absolutely gave me the business about trying hydro as a newbie....But yeah My grow ended up kinda how I imagined it...albeit a month longer then I intended but all good you live and learn......20210503_074450.jpg
This will be ready in 3 weeks or so the stuff in the back a month longer... I kept it short intentionally because I wasn't sure how much power 300w led really was...AND I of course some other shit happened....but I'm a proud parent...If I can get 2-3 oz per plant I'm freaking stoked....I just need enough to last me till next harvest...20210503_074536.jpg

Your first grow was better than mine and I still had roots like in my current grow! My lighting sucked and I didn't realize that was holding me back until I ended up with less than 4oz for 5 months and two plants! Lol

We adapt and do better next time! Glad to hear we both are doing way better!!

I don't want to pull early, super excited...,sucks I still got 4-6 weeks before I can even try my first harvest....I gotta wait till it's ready...The hardest thing, staring at it for weeks (while buying medz) looking like you can smoke it, but knowing in your heart she ain't ready) then to be this close..and no to truely enjoy and appreciate her I gotta properly dry and cure her....easily making it two months before I can get my first taste....but oh fuck will it be worth it!!!

Well Yes but there are plenty of people (new growers) who are indecisive on which method they should try or not try. And well since I've failed and succeeded I thought I'd make a post in case any new growers wanted info and didn't want to scroll archives to get info...I mean if you read your signature's it's already known you like to provoke people, yet you keep doing it.....
;-)
Aye to that sir! Thank you for posting, as I am struggling with both!

I thought this is the first time I've seen soil outperform dwc.... Then continued reading the dwc caught up.

Weed is weed... You're growing it yourself. As long as it's not cured half assed and gets you 'medicated', who cares if it's not high times bud porn. Personally, I'm a perfectionist so I over think and correct every little thing to get nice looking buds. A lot of growers just want weed regardless of how pretty it is. Lol To each their own.

Yea my bad i've been off here for a while...focusing on work...it's tough as a junior engineer.....
I'm on my 3rd grow now at this point....I purchased a water chiller.....I went back to laying my plants down...
Do I need HydroGuard if I got a chiller? Should I just go sterile? Thats the route i'm going so far... I'm definately growing my plants slightly larger before flower now;-)20210819_173719.jpg

Here's my new grow area20210824_142152.jpg

The plants need a few days to recover from the transplant from the grow tent to the hydro....I had to wash the dirt off the roots which removed the hairs...but they r growing back....i see little buds (nubs) growing on the roots...so everything should perk up in a few days......

It wasn't a monster Yield At all....At all.... I got 7 Oz's....Kinda sad for all that effort...Hence growing starting out larger this time....
7 ounce ain't bad. I think your total time seed to harvest for 7 ounces probably not the best tho. That grow took what 8 months haha?

2 autos in a 2x4 tent gave me 13 ounces in 100 days seed to harvest.

Should be able to get photos to yield the same or better in 120 days. Seed to harvest.

Just go sterile for hydro. Makes life easy. That is my opinion because I don't do bennies so I don't gave a clue how to make it work. Sterile is easy... water...bleach...nutes...ph down.

That chiller looks nice and compact. How much was that?

The bigger the plant the bigger the buds. Yes you will have to trim the bottom. But the tops will be way worth the effort. Also lollipop...from experience and from side by sides it def seems the way to go. Opens up the canopy so all the bud gets light. You will see a difference between bud that is in the light and bud that is shaded.

Def improvements on the set up.
