Hey guys!
I’ve been doing research and I can’t figure out what is going on. It isn’t very advanced at all but I would like to get it under control if it is a nutrient or ph problem.
I’ve noticed that the leaves on the colas and most of the upper parts of the canopy are slightly yellowish/light green. Some even look a little brown on the tips or edges.
There’s also some big fan leaves on the lower part that are really yellowing. I think it might be because they’re not getting enough light but I just defoliated a lot and don’t wanna take anymore off if I can avoid it.

I’m running ffof with perlite (60/40 mix)
HLG 100v2 3000k
2’x2’x4’ space
Not on a feeding schedule but since flip (30 days now) I’ve fed probably 5 or 6 times with half strength Botanicare Bloom Pro.

If it is a nutrient problem I’m thinking N def but I could be very wrong as I’m not great with diagnosing nutrient problems.

If it’s normal then I’ll just keep it going

Thanks for any advice guys! Much love and happy growing :bigjoint:

Id say to raise your light up half a foot and mix 1 tsp of epsom salt per gal. for a few waterings and then re-evaluate the situation.

I just raised my light from 7” above the canopy to 11-12” three days ago and I can raise it at higher. I also watered with some calmag today Does epsom salt provide either of those?

epsom salt is mag you look low on mag. I read specs on your light or whatever that advert is. Not as power full as I thought so you may need to play with it a little. Thought it may have washed out the mag from the intensity of a led but idk now might just be a mag whore most/some weed plants are.

I mean it looks like your crushing it with that light you may have to play with the distance maybe that 7 inch was the sweet spot.

I would still do the 1tsp per gal of epsom salt added to the next couple/few waterings That is about 250 ppms of a mag source, then take a pic in five days and compare to the pics you took recently.

Edit >> the pic of the lower leaf looks like a mag deficiency that the plant used and trans-located the mag in that leaf but the tops look like it washed out the mag by the intense light of an led but your led says its equivalent to a 200 watt mh. But yet the lower leaves beside that one pic are still nice and green. for the most part. So yeah add the mag and play with the light height. Maybe split it, where it was and where it is. That's what I would do. You really cant go wrong adding a little extra mag.

Double edit ..leave the light at the 12'' add mag take pic in five days see an improvement then play with the light height. if it gets worse raise it back up. You really have to be looking to see / remember the difference pics help a lot.

Hey thanks man I really appreciate your responses!

I added calmag today, I’m assuming that will help?

I’m very curious about the Epsom salts and have been wanting to use them for a while. Is it just like normal bath Epsom salts from the store? Or is it more growing specific?

I have also been taking pics every day more or less anyway and have 2 journals for this plant, one for detailed than the other. I love the day by day progression, so cool to flip through :blsmoke:

Not to go too off topic but I was wondering, when calculating (or estimating more like) my possible yields, should I use the 97w that the light actually pulls or 200w since that’s what it is equivalent to? That’s double the grammage so I’m quite interested..

Regular normal epsom salts ===no dye's or perfumes etc.

Symptoms that look like mag def with a red stem and the beginnings of red vein on leaf are usually light stress..
7" is too close but you should be fine now you've raised it. Its a slow process , if it were way too much light it would show in top leaves but because its only a wee bit too much it shows on the bigger fan leaves lower down.

Magnesium sulphate (Epsom salts) is cheap as chips , chemist will sell it but you will get 20-100 times the amount for the same money from a local garden shop. I think last I bought some I got a 1lb bag for £3.50

Your yield question is impossible to answer, though we can say we pull x gpw it depends on how much we fill our space, train our plants, health, genetics and environment. But when it comes to chop time and you weigh your dry harvest use the real wattage draw to calculate your gpw if you want to gage your performance or something to base your next grow on.

This helps a lot, I really appreciate you takin the time man!
I hadn’t thought that little light was gonna be too much.. until it was :wall:
Definitely adding some Epsom salts next watering, I’ll go pick em up today.

And thanks for the answer about th light too! I’ve just been curious about that..and yeah I’m more just trying to see what I can get out of that little space and how I could tweak it. This is my first real grow so

Your plant is starving. I looked up that nutrient way low on N as most bloom formulas. At 30 days flower your girls has the most nutrient requirement of its lifecycle (and why you always start seeing deficiencies at this stage). The Botanicare guidance to cut the grow formula and go to only bloom is the recipe and roadmap for the results you are getting. Epsom is not going to fix this, I would recommend you find a more balanced nutrient line or at least incorporate the grow formula and back off the bloom.

At this stage you're not likely to fix much of anything. Trying to fix things could very well make things worse. A well balanced nutrient that contains Some nitrogen is what you need at reduced strength. Don't hit those with full strength anything at this point or you'll either make things worse or run into other problems and you'll just be like a dog chasing it's tail.

I was thinking of just top dressing with some more ffof and stopping the extra nutrients. Would this add the N I need?

To me she looks hungry, like something is missing. It isn’t degrading the plant too quickly or anything though, just a little bit of yellowing every new day. I had an outdoor plant that ran all the way on ffof without nutrients so I might try that again with this one
