Yield one pound DWC

4 may yield more but how big are you vegging your 8 and are you doing any pruning/training at all.
I am just on my 3rd grow at the moment, but the last vegged and made it to about 4 feet. I didnt start pruning until they flowered. Just basically trimming away near buds. As far as training I havent done much, nor am I that familiar. I have a guy who has a ton of clones, so I just drop them right into my system, keep my ppm around 900, and let the dwc do the work for me.

ok well thats a pretty good height for some indoor plants i would try them a little smaller start flower around 1-1.5 feet tall and lollypop them basically in weeks 2 and 4 of flower eliminate any branches that will not see light from your 1000 this will concentrate its energy on producing larger flowers at the canopy where it obviously counts. now this also may be a strain thing some strains dont yield allot if you want high yields aim for high yielding genetics.

Question number 1, what strain are you growing? Sounds like that might be part of the problem. You might just have some bad genetics. Order some seeds, look for something that's known for high yields like Chronic, Critical Mass, Big Bud, LA Woman, The Church or Power Plant.

What nutrients are you using? Though 900 ppm of any decent nutrient line should be fine.

Are you keeping your ph levels between 5.5 and 6.5?

What are you using for water? If its RO are you adding CalMAg?

What are your temps? 60 at the lowest when dark, 85 at the highest when lights are on.

My first grow where lowryders so that was half the problem, 2nd grow were white widows. PH Im definitely keeping it below 6. My water is just tap, what is RO or CalMAG? I was under the impression as long as the PH is where it needs to be the water doesn't matter. I am using a growlab tent, so my water stays about room temperature, while inside the tent is in the mid 80s. Can you please explain the "RO and adding CalMag" part.

Also with the "lollipop" technique Ive read about this a long time ago. Basically giving your plant more light. How exactly do you do this without breaking the branches? Is there a thread someone can link me to, to see one in action?

i just set up a 5x5 tent with a 1000 watt switchable, this is my first legal grow and i plan on growing 12 plants. i have used this same set up with 10 plants. i veg for 6-8 weeks and then throw into flower, i use technaflora recipe for success and advanced nutrients bud candy and bud factor x and easily get 2.5 to 3.5 oz per plant (with the 10 plants in there). i just received my seeds today and will start a journal in a week or two.

RO is Reverse Osmosis water and Calmag is a prouct that supplies Calcium and Magnesium. RO water doesn't have any Calcium and Magnesium in it after its filtered, so its a good idea to supplement with CalMag when using water that has been thru a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system.

I have 4 gal. individual dwc tubs under one 1000W light and recently cut back to four plants. waay better all the way around for tons of reasons.. one being that the only really effective lighting area is not much bigger than 4 X 4. ive been working with this for the last few months and thats what ive come to.

i went with a scrog screen four or so times too but have now gone to just letting them grow trimmed but naturally. it's so much easier and with the tubs free to move you can posiition the plants any way you want wihtout hassle. supercropping works great for controlling the canopy and i have a super slick way to keep them upright when they get heavy.

passing on the info because im soo happy with this setup after trying lots of others. individual tubs that you can move. good growing.

So wait you have one 4 gallon plant under one 1000 watt light? That seems pretty intense. Why dont you scrog then? Wouldn you yield more if you did that? Also do you know how people tie the plant during the scrog method. I read that you can use plastic grocery ties to hold the plant to the scrog screen. Have you actually done this?

No - Four plants under one 1000w. 1 lb. per harvest is a conservative estimate of yield, depending as always on veg time.

I have scrogged and love the method still. It's cool to see a screen full of buds and to train for so many tops. and you don't have to worry about supporting the plants.

But... SCROG is more of a hassle for sure. access is just all around tougher and you'll spend lots of time training them into the screen. once your plants get into the fourth week or so of flowering forget about moving them unless you have large holes in the screen. i have moved plants due to set up changes and it's always a nightmare of broken branches and recovery time for the plant. so like where you put them and don't plan on moving them. you're committed once they really begin.

if u do go scrog make sure you have a solid plan for access to the reservoirs. i ended up tieing my plants with twisties to the screen, which was hung from the ceiling, and then i could just pop the tops of the tubs and lift the whole screen plants and all. was a great system but you need a strong screen and good ceiling hooks for this as the plants get heavy.

as i said tho - i have gone away from scrog. i find that I can train for just as solid a canopy without the screen. creating a bowl or stadium shape under the light can be done with a screen too but i find it just easier to not have one. i just spin and stake the plants anyway i want at anytime until the shape is there.

anyway here are some pics of then and now..

1-15-11 013.jpg1-23-11 001.jpg2-8-2011 007.jpg

the screen in the first pic was 5 ft. X 7 ft. way to abitious for one 1000w and the edge plants were disappointing at around 1/2 the yield. last pic is what i have currently and really like.

another advantage to gowing a lower number of larger plants is the law. AZ still has it's head firmly up it's own ass regarding most things including mj laws.

WoddPusha....Don"t really understand how ya'll can afford to grow if your not pulling close to a gram per watt? I haven't been doing the indoor thing long but ...I have pulled 1-2 oz. per plant Auto's for that matter and they lterally take up 1-2 square feet.....I have 600 watts and pull a pound and a half easy. I use a bubbleponic 30 gallon rubbermaid tote with 8 4" baskets fill it 1/2 - 3/4 full and put a 12" airstone and a 185 gph pump with an 8 port manifold running a steady flow of oxygenated nutrient solution....thats it ... You can ScrOG it or not ...natural gets natural results ...I have vegged some for longer to grow trees instead of bushes that I flower ...mimicking outdoor to some degree..I am flowering them as soon as these autos are done I'll surely pull a 1/4 pound off each of these and there are 8 so...thats what is working for me if any of that helps

Do you have plant count limits? If not then I'd go vertical with your 1000w light
and load up with lots of smaller plants and you should be able to crush that 1lb mark.
You'll also be able to get away with very short veg times with larger number of plants
instead of vegging for up to 4 weeks.

I can pull 1lb with 1x 600w digital ballast + CoolTube and appropriate intake and exhaust airflow. I grow five plants in six connected buckets. The sixth bucket being a reservoir bucket for adding nutrients. Keep your water levels up, stay between 500-1100ppm and try to keep the PH around or at 5.8. Follow those instructions, don't get any spider mites, steer clear of powdery mildew, avoid any fungus gnat infestations, prune perfectly, have a great strain to start with, and monitor it daily....and you'll do just fine! Easy as pie eh? Good luck bud!
