Yield Question

Hey all, i have a question. I have been doing this for myself for about 2 years. I have grown in soil (Foxfarm), Coco and even tried a DWC. I Veg for 4 to 5 weeks and Flower for roughly nine (I go by the trichs) all have been successful with great smoke as the result.
Here's the question. I only average a little over an ounce per plant (Dry). I read on here about growers getting 2 1/2 and 3 ounces per plant. Am i doing something wrong?? or are people over inflateing they're yield. Just curious, any thoughts???

Oz per plant doesn't really mean anything, plants can be big or tiny.

Think in terms of yield per watt and yield per area, like so many sq feet or sq meters

You just answered your own question when describing your light. Move on up to a 400W HPS in your area and watch your yields increase. Based on your photo, you seem to have the grow dialed in.

My best has been 156g from one plant.

That harvest netted me 427g of dry smoke from my 400w HPS setup.

Flouro's are notoriously low yielders.

If you want to get big numbers you'll need to look into a lighting upgrade.

I am in a 2ft x 4ft area with a 4ft 8 bulb t-5 flouresent.
If you wanted to increase your yield with your current light setup you should look at a SCROG.

SCROG was invented for flouro grows.

The trouble with flouro's is that anything below 8" from your light down isn't really getting enough light energy to really produce.

So by training a SCROG you get multiple buds along each square of a screen increasing your yield with nothing below the screen.

So in a 2ft x 4ft area you could have as many as 50-100 buds that are between 4-7" in length all above your screen.

Gram per watt id usually a fair benchmark with HPS lighting. Ditch the flouros and grab a 400 watt hps to double your yields. Be prepared to handle the added heat.

Lights! Listen to greenlikemoney. Your grow looks completely together…you just need more power. My first grow out I used 400W HPS and pulled 3oz per plant. Same amount of time invested as you, but 3x the result. And that's not because I'm a better grower. It's just the lights. And 400W still isn't a lot. When I read about the REALLY big yields, there's usually 1000W involved in there somewhere. For my situation, 600W might be a doable upgrade, and I'm sure it will make a difference in my yields.

Thanks, i checked htg supply. they have a 400 watt pretty reasonable. do i keep it further up off the plants?? with flouro's i keep it about 3"...

air cooled 400w would work great or even a 600w but you may run into heat issues. A single plant could be 12 pounds depends on many factors pot size, light, strain, ect. I grew some Pandora auto's that were over 224g each in 7gal air pots organic nutes

Check the differences in price between a 400 and a 600, if it's not much, go with a 600.

Keep the floro, either veg under that one, and flower under HID, or use the floros as side lighting. No point in letting a decent light sit in a closet somewhere. If it's useless to you, sell it for the money for your new HID.

24 inches for seedlings, then 18 inches or so in veg and most of flower…but by the end of flower mine can get within about 8-10 inches and still be fine. They get used to it.

EDIT: If you're growing from seed, the first week can be under CFL, but doesn't have to be. That's when I do 24 inches to keep them from heat stressing (I don't have a cool tube, but am getting one soon). Then after about a week, 18 inches.

If your going to order a light inline, do youself a favor and go to amazon and look up apollo 400 watt kit. You'll be amazed I think it's only $150 or less for everything you'll need. Just replace the timer, the timers they give you are crap

I just got a Lumitec for a 1,000 watt light. What I did not know until I opened the box, was that it will run 4, 6, and 1,000 watt lights, both HPS and MH. I paid 251$.
