CalMag deficiency? RDWC

Ya i bought a huge gh supply at a hydroponics going outa business auction i litterally have enough for a decade growing veggies and weed but im always learning and simplifying. When i started i was adding all kinds of crap now im dialed on only 3 part with far better results but would be great to go down to two part. So thats per gallon?

Yes ml per gallon,the 3 part gives lots of options though.If your growing the same strain you can fine tune.Like lowering N or a little more P kinda thing.

The 3 part I think is more for veg so if your growing trees .The lucas is the flower mix.

i agree. but you made a good pt, if you have the 3 part for bloom and growing the same strain, you can really dial it in almost for their needs weekly

like i said, lucas is good. is it the best? no. but it's super easy and if you use it with RO, the pH comes out in range usually too.

then do like everybody else: you'll try some additives, find few that work, most that don't and you realize that just a simple nute formula is all you need to grow great weed. lights and enviro are way more important

Also, this seems to be getting spreading. I did a res change today and hopefully that helps. But this morning when I checked the little shiny/white-ish gray spots have started to turn that brown rusty necrotic color; it is slowly working its way inward on the leaf. Any ideas @rkymtnman ?

yes the three fingered leaf. The second true leaf to grow (not counting cotyledons of course) however it is spreading (slowly) to the leaf set above it)

Changing your water will disrupt the pH,it takes a bit to settle.Also you were low on EC before the change right.

as i suspected. mine do that too. they just die off like that. not sure why. as long as you dont' see that on new growth, no worries. and just so you know: rust spots are cal defic.

It’s ph I’m pretty sure. One night a little drunk I added some nutes to my res. Part 1 is blue part two is clear. Well I added the part 1 and some how grabbed ph down for part 2. Doh!!
Wake up in the morning to this. Ph was 3.1!!

This is the first I’ve heard that CalMag is essentially useless in hydro. I’ll have to look it up. Considering hydroponics is inert(until you add the nutes) and considering plants need calcium and magnesium, it would stand to reason that they would have to get that ca/mg from somewhere. And if there’s enough calcium and magnesium in the flora trio to begin with, why would it need calmag in soil? I mean I can understand with coco coir. I’ll have to research that, doesn’t really make much sense.

It's more about the pH buffer in peat mixes. Peat being naturally acidic and calcium being alkaline. Practically all peat mixes are being buffered with lime to combat low pH.

Nah man I think you should re-read my post. It said “feed strength: 550 EC.”
Then someone asked, “i assume you mean 550ppm”
And I said “no I meant to say 550EC/275ppm.”
I just forgot to put the decimal as “.550 EC”
I am fully aware of what the EC to ppm conversions are.

If thats the case then try upping your PPM, could just be a deficiency based on low PPM.

also, I’ve been wondering, do you guys mix your nutesto where the EC is higher than needed and then dilute to the EC you need? Or do you reduce the added nutes (while still keeping the same ratio) to acquire the proper EC? For example: if a chart says mix X of this and X of that per gallon, and that results in an EC 1.6, and you need an EC of .4, is it okay to add nutes at 1/4 strength per gallon to get the EC you want?

Of coarse , either way has the same outcome, do what you prefer.
