VEG:18 20 24 hour? someone convince me!

Wow! You know I have a lot of respect for you and have held my tongue but... You really should consider changing your mind about your view on science reports. You were always opinionated sure but you were also level-headed and willing to listen to evidence at least.
You can have a million grows under your belt and still be doing it wrong. It is a weed and will grow in spite of us, right?
There are many, many more people growing plants of all varieties with far more experience than you. Ed Rosenthal, for one, disagrees with you. Some of them are even doing experiments in labs with real controls. If you are doing the same then publish and unlike you, I'll read your science reports.
You of all people should know that experience does not equal evidence - in fact anecdote is one of the single worse basis for evidence in existence - since there is far too much bias to be of any use.
I should add that I am not saying you're wrong - you may very well be right. But your evidence is no more convincing than other anecdotal evidence - regardless the amount of experience.
If you want to help then quit bellyaching and help - don't become what you despise.

i've done side by sides, i've tested and i've grown many plants, i've read many science reports before and many experts work, and they make a lot of mistakes and get a lot of stuff wrong.
I'll run my own experiments and find out the truth,
does 24/0 create more males, no
does 24/0 create more hermies, no
does 24/0 cost more on electricity, no
is 18/6 better for the plants than 24/0 no
does 24/0 create insufficient root growth, no
the main use for 24 vs 18 is how fast you want them to grow,
if your flower room isn't going to be free for a while and you need the veg to last longer, go for 18, if your going for the fastest growing biggest yielding crop go for 24.
by ditching the 6 hours your plant is losing out on 25% of its growth energy.
Plants dont have eyes and they don't sleep, they can grow roots fine in light and if your hitting them with 24 hours of light your going to give them more energy.
So by giving them only 18 hours of light its costing you more than 24 hours of light,
why
because to get the same growth from a plant in 18 as 24 you would have to veg it for an extra 25%
so if you veg'd under 24 for 4 weeks, to get the same growth and nodes it would take 5 weeks on 18 theres no cost difference in that.
the reason why it becomes more expensive on 18 is because its taking longer to veg and longer to get the crop when all other costs involved are still mounting week to week
your still paying rent on your house and whatever so all these costs are plant costs if you like it or not, because if you veg for 24 your going to have them much quicker and get more grows in per year

No offense meant. just trying to find a friendly way of saying - be careful kicking against the pricks that you don't become one yourself.
I wasn't impugning your growing skills or your knowledge. And the punch-line is - i will probably continue to use 24/0 mostly because - like you - it has worked just fine for me in the past. But if a preponderance of evidence points to 18/6 - i'm certainly willing to give it whirl.

anyone can put a scientist tag on some info put it on a website and pass it as fact, i've seen people trying to pass off as fact that giving your plant birth control pills gives amazing yields. Presentation can be misleading.
i explained why, if you can't read and i'm one of the dumbest, i hate to think where that places you,

so you expect us to believe you when you dont believe in science? i would take anything you say with the abosolute smallest grain of salt... anyone who won't read science is either religious or ignorant,, or both,, and they do go hand in hand...... go prey to your deity and ask him for good buds because i highly doubt you are getting any
no because i don't need to prove to you or anyone else, i'll put up info and truth, when everyone else is putting up bullshit, its up to people what they believe, i can't force them to see the truth. Alto has actually seen evidence of what i'm talking about and has opened his mind.

yes the gender of the plant is already preset once the seed is made

how do you know, i mean really, what have you done to test it, what makes you an expert on it, and yet your stating categorically that they need darkness,

plants are like humans when were awake we do things like cook clean and shuch , plants produce food that they need to grow (pretty much like working) , when we sleep we get nothing done, when a plant sleeps it pretty much doesn't grow

see i can take information in, i can be level headed and if someone presents me with reasonable facts then sure, i'll look into it and investigate further, but when i know what people are trying to force me to understand is bullshit, this is when i have a problem
yea same here, its even more anoying when I try to find things out but I can't find any thing that I'm looking for or don't under stand it and people say '' Why don't you go serch for the answers your self insted of using us for your answers '' or they say to read it more to understand it
I've actuly had clones that were potted and in 3 weeks the 4'' pot was full of roots but also I perfer 24/0 because the plant won't strech unless you move the light ferther from the plant but I perfer to have a yealy busy seedling as soon as I can then haveing it strech
