i read that you can use molasses for nutrients. heat it up a bit so it mixes well with the water. 1 Tablespoon per 1 Gallon of water.

so here are the plants 3 weeks after being planted in the soil. the lighting was sketchy at first, but they seem to be happy with their current set-up. stretch is now 4.5 inches tall with a leaf span of 5 inches. momma is 3 inches tall with a 4 inch leaf span. i'll be planting them in 3 gallon...

i just read that i should wait 5 to 6 weeks on the nutrients. i did the p test and it's 6.5/7.0 so that's good. i don't know what i was thinking earlier about the ph being related to the nutes...i'm retarded. anyway, so now i just wait.

you can get a ph tester for around $5 at the garden store. the ph should be under 7 so they end up being females.

i totally thought about that after...16 inches divided by 4. :) i got a ph tester today and picked up houseplant food that's 8-7-6/N-P-K. the soil i used had nitrogen added, but that is used up after 3 weeks. i kind of don't want to screw too much with them so i'll only add it if the ph is too high.

it looks like our kids are at the same age. i started on the windowsill and switched to the 4 ft floro's. yours are lookin' good.

So the kids are growing at their own pace, which seems to be pretty average. It's been 17 days since they went in soil, but the lighting has been totally erratic. For example, they were in the dark for 24 hours over this past Saturday night. I watered them before I left and plant A had 1 droopy...

congrats on choosing those great sites. are you going to use chicken wire around the plants to keep away critters?
