He mentions in teh very first Quote that he stirs Once after the First week to activate the microbes in the mix, then let sit for at least three more weeks...And from my research and studies, if at all possible, when ready to use, if it was mixed properly to begin with, try not to disturb the soil too much going from brew barrel to pot....This keeps the microbes from being disturbed and will continue to do their work after the transplant....Microbes slow their prodution after tilling dirt and disturbance of their environment...That is why drainage and aeration are so important for your soil, with those in check as well as everything else, tilling or aerating is not needed and therefore the microbes are not disturbed and do their job without interuption......
Hey thanks Troyzkoi,

I ended up finding the powdered humic acid online so that sums it up I think thanks again.

I'm gunna go ahead and share this link with everyone its not much but this site has some things that you might not be able to find at your local grow store or anywhere else for that matter. http://www.earthcrew.com/contents.htm

Sub,

You said that you can go from start to finish using just the Roots soil during veg then a combination of the Roots and SS mix during flowering but I think I am having a Phosphorus and possibly Magnesium deficiency? I am still veging and I was thinking at first maybe it was a water or light stress issue (Which I PM'ed you about and included pics titled "Help me save my girls please" and you never responded) but the more I research the more pictures I come across of leaves turning the same colors as mine and dying off are calling it a Phosphorus or Magnesium deficiency? What can I do to resolve this issue if it is a Phosphorus and Magnesium issue and still keep things organic? P.S. I'd appreciate it if you responded to the PM that I mentioned if and when you have the time. Thanks in advance!

Hey thanks bro. I guess I read Subs article wrong. I was under the impression the SS mix was only used during flowering.
I have always added a little extra something to my roots soil when vegging & flowering with Roots + SS and my plants look spot on

i would like to brief this thread on my first SS medical garden. i live in SW Montana and my garden was outdoors all natural. i used the original recipe as i had azomite purchased a few years back. As my base soil i used Roots Organic Greenfield suitable for indoor/outoor. Having no way to order online at the time of putting it all together i used General Organics Ancient Forest (humus) instead of humic acid. 35 lbs of worm castings and 2 bags of Ancient Forest with all the other recommended nutes.
I started from cuttings at the end of May and the plants finished in 5 gallon bags (i transplanted 3 times i dont know if this is necessary w/SS if the soil will sour or not). this yeilded only about a dry ounce per plant which i think is a low yield. Could it be that i need a better strain for some real weight? island sweet skunk x blueberry romulen & winter grunk was what i grew. I pulled the bud just a tad early cuz i like cerebralness and the plants are still alive and will be cultivated again before too long.
ANY THOUGHTS? btw this was my first grow.

Alot of people I talk to say that there is no need to let it sit for 30 days, that nothing really happens. Any opinions?

definitely stick to the recipe as closely as you can, Its a recipe for a reason and reason is it works. I couldnt get the roots soil either but got a soil as close to it as I could and it still works great. Sub knows what he's doing for sure.

I know it has been noted that the reuse of the soil would take reinoculating it with MYCORRHIZAE and was also said something about storing it...I run a greenhouse by the size of 28'x96' and I'm trying to find a logical way to reuse the soil. I have access to pure mycorrihaze which I can get several different species endo, ecto, and Trichoderma<---not positive that is a species of mycorr. I also have access to bacillus bacteria several species of that as well, but all this aside still not sure how to go about the reuse of the soil...any advice would be nice really don't want to throw pallets of soil away. "we are talking over 150 bags of roots plus additives"

Using Super soil we calculate it cost 30$ to grow a 7 ounce plant.
Not a bad investment toss your used soil and make a new batch!

To re use the soil you would want to re condition it with everything because the plants used everything. The microbial life should still be there and feeding them would allow them to flourish, of course addition micro's wouldn't hurt I guess.

I've read it makes great lawn fertilizer or even flavorful tomato/pepper gardens.

Hey SUB, is that $30 just the soil or everything including the electicity? It would be a good thing to know. I went to the tga website on the bottom of your post. Damn beutifull plants.

Boonus- to re-use your soil i always heard you need to cook it to. To cook all the soil in a decent size greenhouse the size of yours would probally be a big hassle.
