I've had a few of them. Do you also have the flat wide stem(as opposed to round normal ones) leading up to it?
They look kind of cool but I don't think I ever harvested anything decent from one and would likely cull if I got one these days, or at least chop the branch. (my opinion only)
Mine all turned out quite nicely and I kept all of them. I've still got cannabis from that run that I haven't vacuum sealed and stored and are in cure jars. I'll have a look tomorrow and see if I can find one of the saved buds for pics.

That said, I hope to never see it again, as it means the plants aren't growing at maximum efficiency ;)

Nice to see our little thread rebuilding... :)
I'm just getting a bunch of Autos popped into large pots that I can take
In and outside...A bunch of Mephisto, Double Grape and HubbaS...some Fastbuds...Tangiematic and GG4 Auto from Expert..also hoping my Webbed cannabis will throw some Autos for me on this f2 run..Also running some Cherry Wine f2's CBD..looking good..

Anyone creating any new interesting crosses? Anyone track down any fast finishing "photoperiods" that will finish outdoors...Calgary northish

When I first moved into the place I'm in now, I didn't have my environment dialed in and it was too cold where my tents are (52F lights off), and two of four flowering plants had numerous bud sites that grew like that.

Now my lights-off temps are 58-60F, and I haven't seen that since.

Does the branch that the bud is attached to appear to be oval or flat instead of round?
Yeah man its flat..weird I had never seen it before. I dont think the issue for me would be temps. As mentioned below I'll probably cull it.

I popped one of the Blue Cush feminized auto seeds I made using a reversed female.

It grew out into a photo-period male. I was making some other seeds at the time and obviously failed at controlling stray pollen. I knew something was up when I had to switch the light to induce flowering and it was definitely a WTF moment when I saw balls popping out all over the place. He's resting comfortably in the bin.

Smoking an awesome backcross of some PSBC seeds right now. Hit a Skunkberry with Blueberry pollen and the only one I've grown out is fucking amazing.

Got a Swazi Gold African sativa landrace that is getting flipped in the next day or so. Not sure what to expect there. I have quite a few seeds so it'll be culled if male. I'm using a smaller container than normal and starting flower early in an attempt to control the size.

Be safe, gang.

Cool HG

I've always wanted to nail down a decent Blueberry, and heard that there were alternatives to DJ shorts version that were actually better..I almost forgot, you reminded me of the CinderBerry fast (c99 x Blueberry) I had picked up from Seedsman on my last order..Gonna pop a couple bean and see how they do Outside. :)

Sounds like all sorts of great project on the go from this thread..Now that the snow has melted here in Cowtown it's game on..I can certainly use a little distraction with all the Corona issues going on..Be safe all.

Cheers

Funny you mention that cross. I have hundreds of beans I made by hitting my keeper C99 with BB pollen. Only one I've had room to try so far was male, but I'm really excited about the possibilities.

PSBC BB is tough. There are some less mutated phenos but the magic seems to be in the twisted, ugly, picky ones. Had luck so far with crossing her as far as getting rid of some of the worst traits.
Got a healthy JOTI Blueberry(first I've grown) going into the flowering tent tomorrow. If female, I'll be able to provide a preliminary opinion in the summer.

Sounds like you are getting all fired up for the summer season while I'm slowing right down. Hoping to spend more time camping this summer and don't want to be running home to tend the garden. Likely just hang on to the C99 mom and a yet to be determined indica-leaner so I can fire up again in September.

I'm trying to expand my breeding to include more sativa influence..as long as they're not too racy, just different.
This run I'm just backing up my inventory of beans by continuing some
IBL's I have..the Chemdawg and White Gold have been particularly good...going to self a Liberty Haze as well (G13 influence)..
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of summer indoor grows as it can be a bit restrictive..but such is life. :)

TLDR; When is the best time to put auto flowering cannabis plants outdoors for south/central AB/BC? I know the weather is not exactly the same (it's much warmer here in grower's valley BC than it is in say Calgary), but I'm looking for a guesstimate.

Details:

I've not once in my life grown auto flowering cannabis (neither in-or-outdoors), but I received some from a kind soul and germinated a couple to throw outside next to my vegetables and such. They've been out of dirt for nearly a week inside of my veg tent.

I'm thinking that they'll be OK to go out sometime next week. I will transplant them into five gallon pots, and I'll use my indoor medium (Sunshine #4) even though these plants will be outside. I will not bring the plants inside to my indoor grow spaces. If I have to bring them in for unusual cold or extreme weather (the latter is more likely, living on a lake), they will be put in front of my living room windows. There will be no artificial lighting for them in this case.

Second week of May reasonable? It's pretty consistently 15C and up throughout the day currently.

Hey Spek

Think if your Autos like race cars...Max light start to finish...whatever that might be..I've frown them 20-22 hrs start to finish through flowering with good results.

When I grow Autos with the intention of taking them outside..I grow them in a 1-2 gal pot minimum( and leave them in that pot)..typically.you dont want to transplant them as they are going to begin to flower in about 25-40 days whether you like it or not..you want to build that plant structure to build your buds on...if you start inside..hrs of light if possible..take outdoors aim for begining of June..might be warm where you're at, but light is what drives them...might even want to google max light hours for your area..you want to maximize the light hours during the veg cycle if possible.

Best of Luck...

I'd aim for 18 c or better during the day to put them out without stalling them, mind you I think it's root temps that are critical so on a deck you might be alright.

That sounds reasonable. Thank you.

If you're saying you've grown in 1-2 gal pots previously, then I'll use three gallon, and skip the five gallon. Just waiting a couple of more days for the roots to take hold (I've got them in solo cups currently), and I'll put them into the finishing pots. I can keep the three gallon pots inside of one of my 24/0 veg tents for another month, then take them out.

Cheers!

Typically just plant autos in whatever you intend to finish them in...as they can stunt..

I'll do this going forward, thanks.

Another question, I've read and heard that autos don't grow as large as photo plants outdoors. I'm used to 6-8' tall plants outdoors... surely these won't reach near that height, correct?

Correct..
Autos are wired for Northern latitudes...and short seasons..long light hours.(Land of the midnight sun)..that said, they are great for those looking for very discrete, high quality fast finishing bud...If I were to guess what
You end up with this round..transplant, lower light hours..I'm guessing these guys will finish under 2 feet with an ounce each...

If for example, I'm running a Tangiematic (Fastbuds)...they can get around 3 1/2 tall and produce approximately 4 ozs...There are many Autos with more Sativa in the them that will do better yet...White Widow for example.

The point of these plants...is primarily for those who want to produce high quality bud outdoors (20+ %THC) is small spaces in an attempt to avoid detection.

^^Same trimmers as me, same trim bin, and same little #@%$& hairs that seem to sneak into damn near every photo. ;-)^^

Nice looking bud. How's she smell?
