Amaximus' Half-Assed CFL/LED First Grow™

sorry to hear it was so small a yeild man. that will probably dry up to 7-10 grams. im sure you will learn from this and improve next time round man. ive been perpetual since feb pretty much when i started and i didnt learn. autos are a good starting point to get used to plants but im thinking photo period plants will produce more and make it more worthwhile. im gonna run a 12/12 white widow this time around to see what the yeild is like in dwc. if its good then im gonna veg for 8 weeks under my cfls or maybe a 250w mh then flower from there. u decided what strains your gonna grow next time around?

No, No, That was the dry weight. It's been drying for four days now. I couldn't imagine it losing more than 2 or 3g during the cure. If I managed only 7g dry on a photo plant I think I'd eBay my grow gear. lol.

I made a bunch of mistakes, both big and small throughout the grow that i know next time around I'll easily correct. Plus considering this grow is almost 4 months old I know it went too long and I got a little complacent towards the end.

As for the next grow, I'm still undecided.
I had planned a perpetual autoflower grow but I don't feel like running 20/4 during July & August.
So now I'm contemplating another photo grow. Maybe take a step back and do just four plants in 3G or 5G pots instead of 2G's. The theory being that I'll only have to run my lights for a few weeks at 18/6 before going right back to 12/12 to finish the summer. Then start my autoflower perpetual in autumn/winter.

I'm undecided but leaning towards the photo grow. If that's the case I'll be starting it up sometime in the next few days.
I think I'm gonna run G13 Blueberry Gum x2 & G13 White Widow x2.

Just wanted to post some quick photos from yesterday...

The plants hanging in the tent, drying, after their h2o2 soak, before being trimmed. I will never hang them like this before trimming again. What a pain in the ass. All the leaves hung upside-down and stuck to the buds. What a hassle.



The three Liberty Haze mostly trimmed and drying. Today I'll give them a fast manicuring and re-hang them. I ran out of time yesterday. It is hard to see, But on the left side behind the bag is a jar with the curing bud from the first plant harvest. Oh yes, Thanks to puffenuff for the hanging tip. What a breeze!

Amaximus- I'm new to the LED scene. I picked up a Apollo 4 LED and got my box ready to go, but I'm having issues with Humidity and Temps. How did you rig up your Air circulation and Intake and Exhaust, my box is just about the same dimensions as your tent. Any advice would definitely be beneficial. Let me know when you do up your Blueberry Gum, I picked up a bean from G13 as well, maybe we could compare here in the near future.

Hello 404... Up until last week when we had a few days in a row of 95+ temps I haven't had any heat issues to deal with. Right now I exhaust with a simple pc fan with a passive intake. I know that simple fan cannot keep up with higher temps like we will be getting at which point I'll switch out that fan with a mini high velocity fan. It wasn't made for exhaust so there are no stats to speak of (CFM etc) but i have used this fan in the same way before and with how slowly led panels generate heat it hasn't been an issue at all. On days when it is super hot for an extended amount of time I run an A/C unit so that takes care of that. Personally the two fans I use (the pc fan or mini fan) were temporary solutions until I got a proper exhaust fan but they get the job done so I've stuck with them.

Thats understandable. The part I'm in gets from anywhere to 91-99 right about now so heat is definitely an issue especially since my A/C unit is freezing up now when I cut it on. I'll figure it out, and I think I'm going to go with an Auto first time round, but I will definitely compare grows with yours with that Blueberry Gum.

Yeah, We'll be in that range real soon as well. If you have any small fans and/or pc fans around your house I'd suggest trying them first if you haven't already. Depending on your situation they may work for you. But yeah, Without A/C your not going to be able to cool that tent any lower than the room temperature that it is in.

I was going to do a bunch of autos for my second grow but I decided against it since I'd rather not have my lights on 20/4 during the summer. So now the autos will be my third grow, during autumn/winter.

I've got the small fans and pc fans in the already. lol. Once I get the temp and humidity right, I'll probably end up going a different direction with my grow, only time will tell.

Well good luck with your temps. They can be a bitch but once you get it dialed in it is such a relief. I think once you get your a/c going you'll be gold.

Be sure to link your journal for your next grow, if your going to have one. Always interested in led grows. Good luck.

congrats on the chop man sorry to hear it was everything ya wanted but looks like a decent pull for sure and the quality is the true test in my opinion hope to hear a smoke report from ya and cant wait to see your next setup!

Thanks curly. I didn't expect too much, I mean it was my first grow. I've got free, dank weed that I grew myself and it is very exciting. That alone is worth it. As the cure goes on it looks like the quality is there, I've smoked a few nuggets already and the LH is already smooth and knocks your socks off so I'm excited to try the finished product after the full cure. Smoke report incoming in a few weeks!

Jarred the buds from the last three Liberty Haze chop.

Here are the numbers for all four Liberty Haze:
80g dank nugs (A good 15g of these are a bit fluffy but not too bad)
12g airy/fluffy nugs
66g trim/popcorn buds (for cannabutter)

Very low yield. I blame the grower!

Seriously though. I made a ton of mistakes.
I didnt nute enough. Heat stress. Didn't water enough the first few weeks. Way too much pruning. Insufficient lighting for a while & some colas had to be trashed because of bud rot/mildew. Plus a whole slew of other mistakes that I cannot remember at this time.

It was a learning experience though and I cannot wait to begin my next grow to put into effect everything I have learned over these past four months.

But this isn't the complete end!
I'm chopping the remaining Liberty Haze that I LST'd and vegged longer than the rest as well as the GDP today. These two plants were vegged much longer than the previous four. I don't know if that made a difference but I can already tell you the buds on these two girls are much tighter & denser than the previous four. Perhaps the veg time? Or just the fact that I was able to correct any mistakes during the longer veg?

Well, it'll be enough for me for three months. Plus I have the other three plants to factor in after they dry. Yeah, Can't get any worse. Lol.

Yes! Exactly! That is a great feeling. I'm sure the feeling will wear off to some extent but right now every time I open up my drying box and look at the buds hanging and the five jars stacked in the corner plus the big bag of trim I just smile. And it's already quality smoke.

Is that so? I thought you only harvested two plant? I also thought you harvested early for some reason? So many grow journals maybe I'm getting mixed up. heh.

Thanks for the encouraging words guys. I'm not too disappointed I just thought I'd yield better. I'll just have to make up for it! I feel like I did the LED community a disservice! hehe

Made some Canna Butter for the first time yesterday and tried it on some cinnamon toast. It tasted fine but I was already stoned to the bone so I'm not sure about potency. I'll have to try more today before I smoke.

Cooking it up:


Finished Canna Butter (I already set half aside to use later today.):


Gonna be making Peanut (Canna) Butter Cookies today! I hope they come out good.

Peanut (Canna) Butter Cookie Recipe:
1 cup Canna Butter (2 Sticks)
1 cup Peanut Butter (Creamy or Crunchy)
1 cup White Sugar
1 cup Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda

Directions:
1. Cream together butter, peanut butter and sugars. Beat in eggs.
2. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir into batter. Put batter in refrigerator for 1 hour.
3. Roll into 1 inch balls and put on baking sheets. Flatten each ball with a fork, making a criss-cross pattern.
4. Bake @ 300 degrees F for 10 minutes.
5. After 10 minutes keep an eye on cookies and remove from oven when cookies are done to how you like them.

Enjoy!

Cookies are done! They taste absolutely fantastic. Can't even tell that canna butter was used.

I'm gonna have to give some cookies out to friends and ask them about potency though. I've tried edibles many times from many sources (including my toast and cookies) and they just don't seem to effect me. I'd like to know if I screwed them up, or if it is me. But I' hate to keep wasting trim/buds on edibles if I'm fucking them up. I even cooked them @ 300 degrees F because too high of a temperature and the thc will start to vape.

Anyway, I'll just have to see. Worse case scenario is I'll be making qwiso next time.



For anyone interested I highly recommend this recipe. They taste real good and are easy to make. One word about cook times though. This recipe called for a 10 minute cook time @ 300 degrees F. I went 15 minutes, then turned the tray and cooked another 10 minutes for 25 minutes total.
