Yeah, I don't know why after 4 months I'm suddenly starting to stress. I need to step back, smoke a bowl and wait until after harvest to make any decisions.

Question, I thought I've always read 75-100w per plant? Is it less watts per plant when using led? I know these numbers are a generalization, I'm just curious. Thanks.
all really depends man but ya ive heard even with hps around 50w/sqft is the mark your looking to hit but i imagine some people suggest more with either lights i would recommend using less and seeing what you can get from it especially with hps already wasting so much energy why throw even more light at the plants if there not using it right? this is just what i have gathered from my time around so maybe someone else has a more solid answer but thats the general consensus i hear :D

I did a little research and it looks like your 35-50w/per sq ft numbers are pretty accurate with 40-45w seemingly being the more frequent number I'm seeing. With that in mind and 40w as a baseline it would appear I can grow approximately 6 or 7 plants maybe push 8 with some cfls added.

Next grow looks to be an autoflower perpetual for a little while to burn up all these seeds I've collected so I think I'm set on lighting. Unless I start to harvest and don't like the numbers I'm seeing. We'll just have to see... Thanks again for the knowledge curly!

Ok, I'm off to sleep. I plan to harvest that Liberty Haze tomorrow and I'm all sorts of excited! A little sad to be chopping one of the girls I've been caring for for months, But excited nonetheless!

Nite!

Ugh. The harvest is called off until later tonight or tomorrow.

The woman got into a small fender bender with some moron today and they both decided to leave without exchanging any info other than phone numbers thinking they were gonna take care of this without insurance. My ass. Anyway this guy called up and left a message saying something along the lines of "I got an estimate of $1400 and if you dont get back to me within an hour I'm calling the cops". Whatever asshole. Call the pigs, We're going through insurance, my wife is an idiot. Fucking women.

ANYWAY, I have no idea if the cops will be stopping by so I'm sure as shit not gonna start harvesting.

MEH!

My wife should never have given out any of our information to begin with. I don't know why people make traffic accidentals such a big deal? I mean as long as no one is hurt all you have to do is exchange insurance info and maybe lose a few days if your car has to goto the shop to be repaired. It's an inconvienance but it certainly isn't the end of the world.

Instead people always start cursing and pointing fingers and generally being assholes. I don't see the point of it.
"If you didnt open your door I wouldnt have hit it"
"If you wouldve looked in your mirrors you wouldve seen me"
"If you had wings you couldve flown above me!"

I mean come on. Other than exchanging insurance info nothing said after an accident is relevant. People make life harder than it is.

Ok, ok. Sorry, I'm still frustrated by stupidity... ANYWAY!

Shit is in the hands of the insurance companies now, Like it should have been from the start so everything seems to be par for the course.
Time to go chop my bitches! MuAhHA.

Pictures to follow. Stay Cool (It's fucking HOT out!)

Ok, I finally got it done. I harvested my first plant!
It took me over 2 hours (LOL) to do the single plant but I had a ball doing it. Had myself a 6 pack of Corona, smoked a few bowls and listened to some music.
Although I could see where this could get real tiresome after a few plants at a time.

I just wished I waited for a cooler day. I just sat in my grow room with no A/C and sweltered. I must've lost 5 pounds. (Had to be done this way, my son is on summer vacation and I couldn't do this with the door open so.......................)

Liberty Haze and some bud shots before touching her. (that sounds dirty)

The aftermath:

The.......... End. Fin.

I did not take wet weight. I don't really care what it weighs wet. I'll get back to ya's with what the harvest was after it has dried & cured.

PS - Anyone else harvest any Liberty Haze yet? Just curious because I haven't found a single grow to completion with this strain prior to mine.

Job well done! Looking forward to your dry weigh in. Just a quick tip since I noticed you are taping or tying the branches to the string, I used to do that too until I had a forehead slapping moment and realized it was much easier to just cut the branches in a way so that they can just hang there with just a smaller branch for support. Hard to describe it, but basically like you would hang a wish bone on a string. Saves me time and energy.

Oh lord, This is one of those tips that once it's mentioned I slap myself in the head and wonder "Why the hell didn't I think of that?"
I hear what your saying. Leave one branch, kinda of like an elbow and use that inverted "V" of the branch to just hang it on the string.
That's a great tip puff, Thanks. +rep!

Thanks, Fran!

The sad part is that was only 11am. It got up into the 90's for a time there.

Today has been much better. I waved the white flag and opened the tent and placed a box fan right at the base and blew nice cool a/c air in there. It was the only way i could keep up with the rising temps. (Ok, that might be a lie, It was the fastest & lazyiest way.) :eyesmoke:

Congratulations. While it doesn't look like a massive harvest, what you do have looks like quality and ill take quality over quantity any day.

Yeah, I didn't expect a very big harvest it being my first grow and all. Right before I jar them I'll take preliminary weights and see where i stand. I don't expect to pull much more than an oz from it so anything around an ounce per plant and I'd be happy. I tinkered with this grow for so long I'm sure there is tons of room for improvement on my future grows. Like you said though as long as the quality is there!

Thanks brett. Sorry to hear about your temperature problems. Weren't you struggling with temps before you got the hps? I thought we were all trying to rectify your temp problems when you got that? Maybe I'm thinking of another thread. lol.

Come to think of it I haven't seen any subscription updates to your journal? Do I accidentally unsubscribe from it? Ill have to go check.

Quick Update: Mixed bag of news today. Mildew issues and it looks like I'm gonna chop 5 plants in the next few days.

Maybe I slacked off the past few days? Not sure. Anyway...

I went to feed the girls today and took them all out and started inspecting them and it looks like a have a bit of a mildew problem.
The one liberty haze that was LSTd (smaller and vegged longer than the previous four LH) has three main cola's one cola has shrunk and all the leaves around it have turned completely brown but the rest of the lower buds are fine:

IMAG0715.jpg
The second cola looks fine upon first glance:
IMAG0719.jpg
but upon closer inspection I noticed a bunch of white mildew all around:
IMAG0735.jpgIMAG0736.jpg

Of course I went nuts and starting looking at all the plants. All of them look fine except the GDP, That one looks like it may also have a mildew issue, But not to the extent of the liberty haze.

I scoped every plant to see where I stand and every single plant regardless of age is mostly cloudy with maybe 2-10% amber.

The Plan: I'm chopping the brown cola and tossing it in the trash. I'm going to harvest what I can of the mildew plants (The LH and GDP) and give them a h202 bath. The remaining plants will all be chopped/dried/cured as normal since they look fine. By this time next week all I'll be running is the Single Sweet Black Angel.

Suggestions? Advice? Comments? All are appreciated. The mildew issue has me bummed out.

Hey amaximus.....congrats on your first harvest:) you'll only get better after this........ah yes hydrogen peroxide and/or milk dilutions work very well on mold.....just be careful about getting too much into the medium.....and lower your rh will help.....good luck

yes mate. cos i had so many high watt cfls they were putting the heat up to the high 30's. hps was even hotter. saw 41c.....whoops. fitted 2 12v pc fans to the wall and cut a hole where they are and i have not had a problem since. steady 27. peaks at 31 about this time of day usually then dropped to the steady 27.1 i keep getting. max rh is 45% usually around 35% though so i got it sorted now.

damn that bloody mildew. u said that might happen earlier i think. bloody annoying i can imagine

Thanks Psu, Just got done treating the plants with peroxide. Details in my next message. I couldnt bring myself to try the milk idea. All i can think about is the smell of rotting dairy products. *Dry heave* lol

Yeah, Fucking mildew. Luckily it is at the end of the harvest so It's less of an issue than it could have been.
Just checked your grow out. Looking good man. Glad you got your issues under control.

Remember how I kept talking about how amazed I was that I had no problems through my first grow? Well, The end of the grow is proving to be the great equalizer!

Well... Upon closer inspection the mildew problem was worse than I thought. I even had some bud rot. I had to clip off some buds and toss them, including a nice big cola. Yield is going to SUCK. What a bummer.

I chopped the remaining three Liberty Haze. That is the end of the first four.
I gave them a nice soak in h2o2 treated water as per the Jorge Cervantes video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7jE7qzfgQs)
Currently they're hanging with a fan on them to dry. As soon as they're dried later today I'll trim them and hang them for the real dry.

Also, I jarred up the bud from the first plant so that cure has started. The hygrometer immediately read 73% once jarred so I left it open another hour before closing. Right now it reads a steady 67% RH and hasn't begun sweating yet. I'll keep an eye on it and open as needed. I'll be basing most of what I do with my cure on this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/514841-perfect-cure-every-time.html

Initial weight before being jarred is (I'm embarrassed to say) only 22g. I have plenty of trim etc to make hash & cannabutter with but I'm not including any of that as weight.

Also, I sprayed the remaining three girls (The Last Liberty Haze, GDP & Sweet Black Angel) with a h2o2 solution. I plan on chopping, soaking and trimming them within the next few days same as the rest.

Ok, That is it I believe. Time to start drinking. Hello Corona!
