Better light

I'm a full-blown DIY addict. Already have enough lights and drivers for 3x the space I have and already planning to build more lol.
I'm headed the same direction :bigjoint: Picked up 12 Samsung L09 strips a few weeks ago. Planning on building a 4x4 tent, gonna use my 120's and 8 of these L09's. Might try to work in some side lighting with the extra strips.

Those strips looks sweet!

I just built this last week for the veg tent, have another two I need to finish. 100w per 2x2 using a mix of Samsung 3000k/4000k M-series strips. They aren't the most efficient strips but were on sale for $0.68 for 4000k & $0.86 for 3000k. Needed to build something for the drivers I scored from arrow for $12/ea. About as budget you can get for a DIY strip light lol.

Man that looks great!! You definitely can't beat that kind of price, nice job. I was gonna use 8 of the qb 120s for my 4x4 fixture, but those L09's were on sale for $2.35 a strip. Cost me around $75 to my door. I like the versatility of the strips, lots of orientation options.

Amare Shill
I will have a look around, I don't mind paying the money for them, just want something that's true to its description, thanks mate
If you have the money & want the top of the line in results, components, versatility, quality build, service & warranty then I highly recommend Amare Tech. For a $G you can get the new Hybridway Special Edition Bar-6. For $1500 you could get the Amare Bar-8 , Special Edition Canna-Spec-C-Hybridway as well. That one is 900w & covers 7x5.5' & is fully detachable.
This light is fully designed & engeniered by Amare so you will never see a knock off that is just as high quality. The spectrum has my touch to it & will be the most complete led spectrum available through 2021. Covering 370nm-780nm but w/o the issues you will see in the other competing spectrums. Mainly them providing high DLI in the wrong wavelengths w/o getting to detailed.
Pre-Orders are going in now & get a nice discount. Theoretically it should come in at 2.6 umol/j but have wavelengths outside the normalized par region of 400-700nm's as well as fill all the gaps white leds are missing.
Gonna be the Badest Ass Light on the Mkt. For less $ per watt then any other premium company based on what you get. Not just to cover a 4x4 but to offer the highest quality design at the lowest possible cost. Usually around $1.64/Watt but get $3/w fixture after comparing all the options & recognizing that adding quality component colors cost more then white or 660.
But idk how serious of a grower you are. They offer the Pro-Series still with a bunch of improvements including built in dimmers, Vero Cobs, Cree xpg-3 chips or orsram is available in the 5w monos. Still have yet to see much outperform the Pro-Series. Those Cob lights won't fade away that quick with the results they turn over.
Yeah, stay away from False led companies stating 1000w on a 200w shifty panel.

I love hearing about all the latest and greatest led light companies out there setting the bar higher and higher. Pretty exciting times to be an indoor grower.
We might not have flying cars, but my grandma would've shit a golden egg if she could have seen these lights, and heard how efficient they are and how long they last

One of the big reasons I went with the qb120's was because they didn't require a heat sink, saved me a good bit of money not having to purchase them. I'm fixing to build a new light frame, and I'm gonna go ahead and purchase a sheet of 1/8" aluminum to make some heat sinks. HLG says they aren't required, but I would imagine their lifespan improves with the use of them. I do have a box fan directly over my lights that blows down air 24 hours a day, I imagine that helps.
I've got one each of the qb288 r spec and b spec, they're pretty sweet. I do run heat sinks on them. Eventually I'll replace my qb120's with the 288's, but I was able to get a great quality light relatively cheap to get me started. They are sold on Amazon, I believe they're $120 shipped for 4.
Heatsinks will definitely increase their life and slow the decrease in efficiency. Have you ever measured the back of the board to see exactly how hot it gets? Just curious, not trying to give ya any criticism.

Yeah I have more light than I can use at the moment myself. I couldn't resist trying to build the QB96s. Drivers should be here any day.

I just thought I should again suggest thi old model cree that builds buds and is good full cycle. 2 will produce dense 4x4 at 36" 1M tall. Far as I pushed penetration. But looking at $75 USD max each if you can find them anymore. I just sold mine. And am kicking myself.

What's your problem with hlg anyways? I don't own one personally but I wouldn't be hesitant to get their products.
HLG sent me the wrong heatsink for my light and jerked me around for a month promising to send one but doing nothing. They say they're super busy receiving 250+ emails per day yet they managed to NEVER reply to my emails. PMing StephenJ is the only way I could get a reply and this is what I got:
  • Jan 11- I'll check today. What is your shipping address and I'll send you another one asap
  • Jan 25 - What's your order number? I think I sent it out.
  • Jan 30 - We have been out of town for an expo in Denver. I'll check UPS and if it's not shipped I'll make sure it gets done today
  • Feb 14 - Sends tracking number
If you don't harass the shit out of them nothing will get done. My original email asking for support was sent Jan 7. So a little over a month to get me a heatsink shipped lol. Meijui responds to all my inquiries same day. Aussie highlights have also been good to me.

Just to clarify, will that Bar 6 special edition have the same wider spectrum as the Bar 8 info listed? Just noticed you had cannaspec C in the bar 8 name but not bar 6?

Also is there an EU importer for Amare? These units sound amazing, two 6 bars would be perfect for what I need. And I want that wider spectrum, not just the efficiency the 660 diode focused units are bringing.

One amazing feature I have just seen that Lumatek (photontek is USA version) are launching next year is a UV bar that will fit into any of their bar based fixtures. So you get your UV supplement right in the middle of your canopy instead of mounting them separately. It seems like a fantastic idea for any of the bar based fixtures going forward.

It is amazing where LEDs are heading.

Being an anti Capitalist I look for small , personal companies. I love these and the immediate personal attention. Could use some cheap minor mods to fit your style.

Weird. Every single one of my emails was answered within 10 minutes no joke, except for on a Sunday when I sent an email at 8PM they didn't respond until the next morning.

I'd be angry if that happened to me, though. That's a totally reasonable grudge. I wonder how common your experience is.

Just out of curiosity? Why Email if you have light? I had a broke dimmer knob. UPS, not vendor.

I forget if I mentioned to look at dormgrows G8 series. They include everything you're looking for like UV and IR boosters. Won actual awards.

Don't have any experience with them but youtube growers will not shut up about them in comparison grow vids. Maybe check em out.

HLG does sell a UV bar that attaches directly to their 550, 600, and 650 in the middle of the fixture, just like you described. I'm definitely grabbing one when it's time to flower.

Yeah, I wish more companies sold attachable accessories.

These were qb96v2s that absolutely need the heatsink to mount and run. They sent me heatsinks for COBs instead, they don't even sell cobs lol. I had to do half a run with 2 lights instead of 4...

If you want top quality lights I'd go with growlightsaustralia
If you want good n cheap I'd go with meijui/kingbrite
For DIY I'd go with a fuckload of Bridgeluxe EB3 strips

Ive put the back of my hand on them while on, they've never been hot to the touch. They're warm, but they always have air blowing over them. I imagine without airflow they might get a little toasty. I ran my qb288 without a fan on it for about an hour, it was hot. Put a fan on it and its just barely warm now.

Ive never had a problem that I needed to address with HLG, but ive called them a few times with questions about lights and wiring. They helped me right there. Last time I ordered from them, 2 days later I had my order. Super fast. Sucks you had a problem. Did they make you return the incorrect heat sink, or at least let you keep it for your troubles?

I don't know if you read my earlier posts, but my light was stolen/never delivered to my house. Had to resolve that lol.

I've asked them a few questions about their QB96 kits, too. And also when they are getting certain items back in stock, like the UV bar attachment. They couldn't give me an answer on that last one though.

I'm the guy who had his light stolen. The missing heatsink was a different guy. My experience with HLG itself has been great. They were ready to ship me a new one in 48hrs, 24 of those were for HLG to file a claim. (Insurance I'm guessing)

Al good and TY. Just like sharing positive online buys is all. Thieves suck. Hope you got refunded or replaced. Like being dealt with as a person. Not a number on a promissory note. LOL. Peace.
