DIY with Quantum Boards

Did you contact HLG about your new light? I can tell you, there is no "old stock". I know of several people who's lights were made the day they ordered them. If your light doesn't look right, contact HLG, things don't get corrected unless you do!

I got mine yesterday too. Your box also looks like it's been sitting in a warehouse for years. I thought these were supposed to be new and updated. They also sent you glasses..........................nice. You think for all that $$$ I spent they could have sent me one too.

How are you supposed to know if you got the "updated" version? My light looks refurbed to be honest and I'm not really happy with the looks of it. This will be my last purchase from HLG now that I see a $400 cheaper light can do just as well.

No more pics of my HLG grows and no more free advertising for HLG. Fuck them :finger:

How long??? And how long has the Scorpion been out? Don't let anger outweigh common sense, call them. Hell I'll forward your suppositions to them and get the ball rolling. But to bash anyone or company when you've made no effort at all to do anything about it doesn't make you look like you actually have much of a problem, Not saying you don't, and I'm willing to help if I can

Why would I contact them about sending me a light that has been lying around for a while and trying to dish it off as a newer model? That's total bs right there. I'll ask for an RMA and that's that. I'm not going to argue with anyone.

Dude, the staples that hold the box together were dirty and dusty with a years worth of grime on them. Don't tell me they just stapled that box up 3 days ago. I hate assuming but just a little detective work on the box it came it kind of proves something is not kosher.

I've sent my contact an email because we can speculate all day as to who's got what. I'll post as soon as I get a reply.

No reply yet? Damn man that’s awful and sorry you had to go through this.
I'm not "going" thru anything really. Just concerned I didn't get what I paid for.

It's a holiday weekend here in the states so I didn't expect a response until Tuesday. I'm sure I'll hear some lame ass excuse about the box, staples and manual tho.

I knooooooww.

but she's so fucking hot. Those diodes must be good!!!!
Sure, hot in a skanky porn slut sort of way, I can see that. HLG has real women who go actual gardening for them. Personally I'd rather date the brown haired girl in this post that that skanky Jessica Wilde

I'm not familiar with anyone actually fusing the boards, it's just not needed or else HLG would put fuses on their lamps and I've not seen anyone actually use them. Consider the durability of these boards, LED Gardener put over 500 watts through a single QB 288 without it failing! If I come across someone who has put fuses on their boards, I'll post it here.
@pop22

Can you explain how to fuse the boards or point to a page or video? Any links for parts would also be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Peace
There is a few posts or a page or two talking about what type fuses to use for this purpose in this thread. I know because I asked about it. I think it was chiefrunningfists who posted, but he's not around anymore.

No. It's because they sent me a possible refurb. It is NOT the newer light. It has the white manual like PJ said. It also looks like it's been around a while. It does not look like a brand new unit with new boards AND a new box. Pisses me off that they would do that. I'm returning it asap.

Also, what are they going to use as an excuse? "Oh sorry, we sent the wrong manual with the brand new light".

....................and we put a brand new light into a box that was sitting in a warehouse for 2 years.
Yea - maybe contact them first about it before you start trying to predict the future in the most pessimistic way and posting it as if it's already happened. If nothing else, my experience with HLG is that they have very good customer service; excellent really.
I understand the being upset about something part... but, why wouldn't you communicate with the other party in the transaction before doing this?

Oh - my bad. ' Why would you contact the seller about an issue with your purchase? '. Good point.

This place is swarming, honestly.

I wonder if you'll be labeled as a "bro-detective" now, too. Hah.

@PJ Diaz Hey man. How is your qb96 + cmh combo doing? Still running that same setup. I'm looking to get a cmh to try out this winter, as mentioned before.

You don't really need fuses for the DC side. If you read back a few pages and go thru my posts you can see a solution for this problem without fuses but your fixture needs to be powered by a A-type dimming meanwell HLG driver. It should be in the last 5-10 pages.

Edit: oopsie, it was you I talked about this

Well then....there it is.
Thank you!
The way to do this without spending or doing any work is by setting up your voltage regulating driver (gotta be A-type dimming) in such a way so your boards-strips are not able to draw more current than you want them. It's done easily by turning a knob on the driver.

Actually I only run that combo during the cold months now. Mars Hydro was kind enough to send me a free bar light, which I use as my main light until it gets cold.

So the dimmer under the plastic plug is safer than a external pot ?
